Abiotic Factor got an updated roadmap for 2026

Big things are coming to Abiotic Factor this year. Plus a Pest plushie is coming soon!

Abiotic Factor got an updated roadmap for 2026

It's no secret that Abiotic Factor is my favorite survival game ever made, and continues to be my favorite as time goes on.

Makeship Pest Plushie - Launching May 4th!

Bring home one of Anteverse 2's most infamous specimens while saving yourself from the risks of interdimensional travel. Safer, quieter, and 50% squishier than an actual living IS-0173.

Spring 2026!

The Spring update is starting this year with a bang. This update is called the Cosmic Companions update, and for good reason, the main features seem to be pet mutations. Before we dive into the meat of the update, we have to take a look at the new roadmap.

Spring 2026

This is going to be a free update, and there is quite a bit crossed out. But we can still make out some of the details.

First, we have the Pet Mutations, which they've been showing off on the official Abitoic Factor YouTube channel. I won't share those here because they're YouTube shorts, but expect the gaps to be filled as well as some completely new kinds of pests. We are also getting Peccary taming and milking with this update, which I know the community is excited for. I won't lie, I look forward to destroying the order with a Peccary. This update also includes a tamed pet slot and pet beds.

So, this update will also include the Chemistry Bench, which I am stupidly excited for. I love a good bench, and I get such a brain buzz trying to figure out where I'll put it in my base. We are also getting the Distillation Bench. Both of these together will give us weapon coatings and potions!

Designed to enable dramatic scientific progress, the freshly concocted Chemistry System is arriving shortly. A deep and much requested scientific feature that rewards eager engagement and experimentation which you and your colleagues can explore.

Experiment with your stockpile of weird science materials to create versatile distillations, and mix those into fancy new chemistry items!

Empower yourself and allies with potent tinctures!
Enhance your weapons with new abilities using strange and exotic coatings!
Project the power of SCIENCE with throwable flasks that produce a variety of useful effects!

For those of us who want to clean up blood, we are also getting a mop. This is another little feature that I am excited for, and it really highlights how the developers are open to hearing out the community.

The M.O.P. 9000!

Tired of blood and bodily remains cluttering your cosy and pristine base? Tempted to clean the GATE Cascade Research Facility up a little? You now have the power with the Mess Obliterating Paraphernalia 9000 - good luck, friend.

More blunt weapons are coming in this update, which I am excited for because I like collecting and showcasing weapons.

When Brain Meets Brawn

For those scientists who felt the need for more choice in how they bop, beat, pummel and batter their way to a better world, this is the update for you! Yes, this is about the addition of more Blunt Melee weapon choices.

In this last bit, we also get told that we are getting many improvements. Furniture is mentioned in that list, but they didn't tell us anything else about it.

Plus Some Polish

The Cosmic Companion update is a rich trove of furnishings and cosmetics, enhancements and additions, bug fixes, and quality of life improvements - from Mad Scientist gear, furniture, and weapons, to UX and AI polish. Discoveries await!

We’ve been busy, striving to deliver a wealth of wisdom and wonder to our fellow scientists. It’s not long until this update lands, and we think you’ll enjoy what’s in store with deep new systems, intriguing ideas… and more adventure than you can shake a test tube at!

Summer 2026

We can assume this update is getting digital in a bunch of ways. I hope that this includes more updates for Space Queen, but we won't know until Summer.

The first feature listed is the Digital Plot. I assume this will be for peppers, but they could totally add something completely new. We are also getting an oven and practice dummies. Practice dummies might not seem like a big deal, but they will help me a lot when filming guides and also allow for some creative builds.

Other new features include a garden trowel, which...okay! Repackaging pies and soups, which is awesome. More pets with the fuzzy friends label next to it, which gives me a few ideas as to what could be included. More growables that go right with the Summer theme of this update, so I love that. More cosmetics and more skill perks. That's all we know about the Summer update so far.

Autumn 2026

This is where we see the DLC label, meaning that some of this update will cost money. Which I think is a good thing. I want updates for as long as they're willing to make them, but they can't do that for free. We know that this DLC will include a new sector and portal worlds. New enemies, traders, recipes, and a home world. But that's it! Everything is redacted.

In the free update section, we get much more information. Starting with journal upgrades, which should include multi-quest support. The new features include boats, a brewing system, more database terminal apps, fishing improvements, enemy behavior improvements, trait and customization presets, and emote customization.

We are also told we are getting a crossover, and because of the hook and tagline, I am pretty sure this is a Dredge crossover, which is cool. But man, I am not looking forward to more water.

That's it so far...

Winter is completely redacted, so that's all the news we have to cover so far, but be sure to follow GamingTrend for more Abiotic Factor goodies!
