Grab your tools and head back into the mines; one of my favorite multiplayer games has its annual Halloween event going on! You won't want to miss this year's event.
Deep Rock Galactic's Hoxxes Halloween 2026 event started on October 22 and runs until November 5. That gets you two weeks of seasonal work assignments, new headgear, and a haunted Space Rig. If you've been meaning to round up your squad for another run, here's your excuse.
Like a (Straw) Boss
The big item this year is the Straw Boss hat, a limited-time cosmetic made to spook even the grossest Glyphids. It also comes with a damp smell, apparently. You can blame Management's storage conditions for that one.
Missed earlier Halloween events? You can still catch up. Finish the Last Year's Horrors assignment to unlock previous Halloween hats, so the lazybones in the crew aren't left out.
A mission for the skeleton crew
Flying skulls are haunting the caves of Hoxxes IV again, and R&D wants them for research. You get a Double Performance Point Bonus for every skull you grab and safely turn in, which is a pretty good deal for snatching floating heads out of the air.
I love that Deep Rock brings this back every year. Chasing a skull through a cave in the middle of a bug swarm just feels right for this game.
Haunted Hub
Back on the Space Rig, Management has dusted off the ghosts and jack-o'-lanterns. The hub gets seasonal decorations and some eerie ambience, which is just the mood you want for a pint before the drop pod leaves.
Here's what's in the event:
- Runs from October 22 to November 5
- The Straw Boss limited-time hat
- The Last Year's Horrors assignment, which unlocks previous Halloween hats
- A Double Performance Point Bonus for every flying skull you turn in
- Halloween decorations and eerie ambience on the Space Rig
It's a light event, but this kind of thing keeps Deep Rock feeling alive. A new hat, some skull hunting, and a spooky bar are all it takes to get my crew back together for a few runs.
