Valor Mortis launches September 24 with Vincent Cassel as Napoleon

Day one on Xbox Game Pass

Valor Mortis

Lyrical Games and developer One More Level have announced that Valor Mortis will launch on September 24, 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series S|X, and Steam, with day-one availability on Xbox Game Pass. A playable demo is live on Steam now, and a new gameplay trailer debuted at the Xbox Games Showcase. The studio also revealed that César Award-winning actor Vincent Cassel will voice Napoleon Bonaparte, whose first appearance in the game anchors the new trailer and poses a central question to players: what would you sacrifice for power?

Set in a supernatural reimagining of 19th-century Europe, Valor Mortis follows William, a resurrected soldier of the Grande ArmĂ©e who fights with both Napoleonic-era weaponry and dark supernatural abilities. The game is being developed by the KrakĂ³w-based team behind the Ghostrunner series, who are bringing their signature first-person expertise to a stamina-driven Soulslike built around skill, mobility, and brutal close-quarters combat.

Set in a supernatural reimagining of 19th-century Europe, Valor Mortis casts players as William, a resurrected soldier of the Grande ArmĂ©e who wields both Napoleonic-era weaponry and devastating supernatural powers. The KrakĂ³w-based studio, known for the critically acclaimed Ghostrunner series, brings the same mastery of first-person perspective to a Soulslike built around skill, stamina, and visceral, high-mobility combat.
The new trailer places the relationship between William and his Emperor, Napoleon, front and center. It marks Napoleon's first appearance in the game, portrayed by Cassel, as he warns William of his newfound abilities and poses a question to players: what would you sacrifice for power?
Valor Mortis Key Features:
A Grand Napoleonic Narrative: Napoleon's conquest has unleashed something far more horrifying than war. Play as William, a resurrected soldier of the Grande ArmĂ©e guided by Napoleon's disembodied voice, as you traverse ravaged battlefields, sprawling mountains, and European-inspired cities consumed by a grotesque, continent-wide plague — the same corruption that pulses through William's veins and gave him life.
First-Person Soulslike Combat: Challenging, stamina-and-skill-based combat designed to feel threatening and immersive, drawing on One More Level's expertise in first-person perspective. Every death is a stepping stone to mastery as you perfect your ability to parry blows, dash out of harm's way, and deliver ravaging, visceral finishers.
Dual-Wielding and Supernatural Powers: Master fluid combat by weaving together Napoleonic-era weaponry, such as rapiers and flintlock pistols, while also utilizing William's devastating supernatural abilities.
Metroidvania-Style Exploration: Use William's newfound mobility to outrun and flank Napoleon's plague-ridden Eternal Guard. Progress carefully, uncover environmental secrets, and survive the rotting remnants of an endless war.
AAA Audiovisual Quality: A disturbing aesthetic built on theatrical lighting and mature, grim themes, with an original score co-composed by Arkadiusz Reikowski, known for his work on Silent Hill 2 RemakeThe Medium, and Layers of Fear 1 and 2, alongside in-house composer Oskar BaÅ‚a.
