Gotham Knights is right around the corner, and every video we get just makes us more excited for what lies ahead. This go-around we get a behind-the-scenes of the family that Bruce Wayne has stitched together, and that has succeeded him in Gotham Knights. Namely, that’s Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin — trained heroes who will now have to rise up to defend the city of Gotham as a wave of darkness descends. The video gives us a look at the consequences of Batman’s death, how it impacts the family dynamic, and how each is (poorly) dealing with their own personal struggles. It’s gonna be a wild ride…
If you live under a rock, here’s a quick catch-up on the game’s setting:
Batman is dead. A new expansive, criminal underworld has swept the streets of Gotham City. It is now up to the Batman Family; Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin; to protect Gotham, bring hope to its citizens, discipline to its cops, and fear to its criminals. From solving mysteries that connect the darkest chapters in the city’s history to defeating notorious villains in epic confrontations, you must evolve into the new Dark Knight and save the streets from descent into chaos.
Gotham Knights is an open-world, action RPG set in the most dynamic and interactive Gotham City yet. In either solo-play or with one other hero, patrol Gotham’s five distinct boroughs and drop in on criminal activity wherever you find it.
The big bad in this game is the fabled Court of Owls — a villainous group we’ve not faced in previous games, with nearly unlimited funds, the strength of anonymity, and the power of being completely legion. I look forward to unraveling them bit by bit.
