Masters of the Universe was a far better movie than it had any right to be. It leaned heavily into the campy and ridiculous over the top nature of the original show, but brought it to a modern audience that grew up (at least a little) since then. It asked the audience to just sit back and have fun. Based on the 68% from critics and an 85% from audiences, according to Rotten Tomatoes, I'm not alone in feeling that way. While it's been out for streaming for a bit now, folks like me enjoy a proper home viewing experience – uncompressed, 4K, and with the best audio possible. I'm happy to report that Masters of the Universe is now available in 4K UHD, Blu-Ray, and DVD. If you are completely lost on what this movie is about, let's get into it!
Fifteen years after tracking down the Sword of Power, Adam is whisked back to his home planet of Eternia, now under Skeletor's rule. With Teela and Duncan at his side, he must unlock his true power, embrace his destiny as He-Man, and fight to reclaim his world and the people he loves.
If you love self-deprecating humor, the absurdity of a kid naming a warrior "Ram-Man", and Alison Brie dressed up as Evil-Lyn, then shut off your brain and pick this one up. It's just good fun, and don't we all need a bit of that these days?
