D-Topia Hands-On Preview

A Best of Summer Game Fest award winner!

D-Topia Hands-On Preview

Imagine a world that’s perfect, a utopia controlled by AI power Troids (droids that guide you through your day). Your day is simple. You go to work, do cute cozy puzzles, and then spend the your day as you see fit. You may go to a store, see a friend, grab something from the food machine. Now… what if I tell you this Utopia may not be what it seems?

This is D-Topia from Annapurna and Marumittu Games. I was impressed beyond my expectations at the demo I was able to play through. The puzzles were fun, the art style was cute, and there’s clearly a mystery to be solved.

The puzzles for “work” involve moving blocks of numbers around the map to put them into the correct slots. Sometimes, you’ll be moving pieces to one place to move another piece into the correct slots. You can also do extra puzzles for extra money or you can do the least amount of work possible. Regardless, they’re a fun time all around.

You play as a new Facilitator whose job is to do those puzzles, yes, but clearly there’s so much more to your ability. As I moved through the demo we met the blunt and fast paced Eebie who rolls around like they’re better than everyone as well as Tot, who you help inside of a store.

While helping Tot, you get access to the back end or Visual Setting. Here is where the start to the mystery begins as things are clearly not the utopia the Troids tell you it is…

The vibes are wonderful, the gameplay is peaceful yet very easy to get lost while engaging with it (in a good way), and pulls you in quickly. You can wishlist D-Topia now on Steam now

I was pleased to award D-topia with a GamingTrend: Best of Summer Game Fest award! I’m very excited for the full release this year!
