MAINGEAR launches ultra-powerful RTX 40-Series laptops

We’ve gotten a closer look at MAINGEAR’s builds recently (look for an upcoming deep dive on their Project Zero) and came away impressed.  Now they’ve shadow dropped an incredibly powerful 16″ laptop configuration that can easily be called a desktop replacement — the ML-16.  Let’s dig into the details:

The ML-16 series is built for gamers who demand peak performance and mobility without compromising on either. Equipped with the latest, premium mobile 28-watt processors from Intel and a powerful cooling system, ML-16 laptops ensure optimal reliability even with intense CPU loads, allowing gamers to push them hard without reaching their limits. With a large 80-Wh battery, the ML-16 offers hours of uninterrupted productivity. At the same time, a dedicated turbo mode allows users to select between three power modes, providing enhanced flexibility for different use scenarios.

The 16-inch QHD (2560×1600) 240Hz display is optimized for both gaming and creative tasks, featuring a 16:10 aspect ratio and NVIDIA Dynamic Display Switching technology that intelligently alternates between integrated Intel® Arc™ graphics and the dedicated NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40-series Mobile GPU. This ensures peak performance and power efficiency regardless of the application.

The device also ships with the latest connectivity options, including Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, as well as an array of ports including a Thunderbolt 4 port with PD, a USB-C port with Display Alt mode (useful for things like ML glasses), two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, a full-sized RJ-45, a microSD card reader, the usual multi-audio jack, and HDMI out.  Better still, manufacturer Clevo has done a far better job than most in the placement of these things (Looking at my current laptop with the power and USB-C on the right hand side, which is awful — I’m jealous!) meaning you’ll get all that connectivity without the headaches.

Under the hood there are multiple configuration options, starting at $1,869 and topping out at $2999, with manual configuration options as well.  This will allow you to employ an RTX 4060, 4070, or 4080 for a GPU.  All machines ship with a powerful Intel Core i9-13900HX, up to 64GB DDR5 4800MHz, up to 4TB Gen4 M.2 NVMe SSD, and RAID options if your needs lie in that direction.  All of these are backed by a 99WH battery to keep things running, even while mobile.

I’ve owned Clevo-made machines configured by companies like Maingear in the past and wow have they been absolute workhorses, so they’ll make an excellent platform for MAINGEAR to build upon.  If you are like me and need desktop power on the go, you absolutely cannot go wrong.

The machines are available right now, so drop by MAINGEAR’s official page to secure one for yourself.  Do it quickly, however, as I suspect these will go backorder in a hurry due to the initial rush.
