We'll have a whole lot to say about the game tomorrow as we went hands-on with the title for the last few weeks, but the team at PlaySide gave us a brief look at the upcoming RTS Game of Thrones: War for Westeros as part of Opening Night Live. I'll give PlaySide a second to talk about their upcoming game and what makes it different:
The brand-new Gameplay Reveal Trailer showcases the very first look at gameplay in War for Westeros, revealing the return of some of the most iconic heroes from the franchise. Players will engage in epic real-time skirmish battles across the Seven Kingdoms, commanding factions and playable heroes including Robb Stark, Jon Snow, Ghost, Grey Wind, Jaime Lannister, Tywin Lannister, Daenerys Targaryen, and the Night King himself, all of whom utilise unique abilities that can shift the tide of battle. Forging a path to victory will require players to step into the role of a commander, making key decisions in training units, securing resources, constructing buildings, and claiming territory from opposing forces. Each faction offers asymmetric strategies, with unique armies, buildings, mechanics, and playstyles shaped by their identity in the Game of Thrones series. Players must harness these distinct strengths, deploy powerful heroes, and adapt their approach to outplay, outmaneuver, and defeat their enemies.
