Darrington Press is revealing some of Daggerheart’s most sinister adversaries, brought to life by the incredible vision of lead concept artist, Shaun Ellis.

To give you an idea of what players are in for, please find a few images of these adversaries below—each one designed to be as menacing as it is unforgettable.

Shaun Ellis, Lead Concept Artist on Daggerheart

“Adversaries take on many appearances and serve any number of roles in a narrative, but most often they exist as antagonists of many kinds: a deceitful individual, a frightening monstrosity, a creature of violent instinct, or even something shrouded in an ominous mystery, and so on. Their role is a supporting one that is meant to inspire characters to become a hero, face their fears, confront horrors, or even fall from grace. Adversaries are often inspired by antagonists that you may already be familiar with, but are also unique enough that they can exist as their own distinct character within whatever narratives they find themselves in.”

A hulking demon with boulder-sized fists, driven by endless rage. This denizen of the Circles Below makes their foe’s blood boil.

A captivating undead dressed in aristocratic finery. He may have you for dinner.

A towering immortal and incarnation of fate, cursed to only see bad outcomes. Those who hear her pronouncements are likely to lose hope.

A towering gestalt of corpses moving as one, with torso-sized limbs and fists as large as a grown halfling. This monstrosity can incorporate the dead into its form.
