BackerKit is one of the leading crowdfunding platforms used widely by our DriveThruRPG publishing partners and home to some of the biggest tabletop RPG creators and projects today.
At DriveThruRPG, we have supported thousands of crowdfunding campaigns, and we are happy to help partners promote and fulfill their amazing creations. However, navigating back and forth between two different platforms can be time-consuming and confusing for both partners and customers.
The BackerKit x DriveThruRPG integration opens up new horizons for both publishers and backers, allowing for easier delivery of rewards and less time spent browsing different sites.
We are thrilled to unlock this new feature, and we cannot wait to share how easy it is to use!
What this means for backers
Instead of receiving different rewards from different locations, you will now receive those rewards in one place, easily and instantly.
- Digital rewards show up clearly marked “Instant Access” in the reward tier.
- Right after you pledge, you’ll see a link to access your rewards.
- One click, and you’re in your DriveThruRPG library and on to your next adventure!
Backers will be asked to create a free DriveThruRPG account to access their library, as in the past.
What this means for publishers
Running a crowdfunding campaign is a fun and effective way to bring new and existing fans together around a project or a creator they love. Being able to share your inspiring art with backers and getting immediate feedback on the nascent mechanics of your game are some of the many benefits of crowdfunding your project.
What is not so fun and exciting is managing fulfillment, whether you are one of our smaller indie partners or someone with a big team. You may find yourself drowning in spreadsheets or manually sending out rewards, which takes time away from the fun part: creating that RPG magic.
Today, that changes.
Publishing partners who launch their crowdfunding campaign on BackerKit will now be able to fulfill their mid-campaign rewards through our unified API. Rather than sending everything through DriveThruRPG using our Complimentary Copy tools, partners now have the option to deliver digital rewards seamlessly via DriveThru, right from their BackerKit campaign.
Beyond simplifying fulfillment, this integration is a powerful way to build early campaign momentum. By offering backers instant access to digital rewards, you can give fans a compelling and immediate reason to follow, reserve, and pledge to your campaign.
