The Game Awards 2024 nominees revealed

The list has finally been revealed. Every year The Game Awards nominees are highly contested spots, and this year has plenty to love. ASTRO BOT and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth were the top vote getters, but plenty of surprises remain. Take a look at it all below.

LOS ANGELES — NOV. 18, 2024 – The Game Awards, the video game industry’s biggest year-end celebration, today revealed its 2024 nominees with ASTRO BOT and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth leading the industry with 7 nominations each, including Game of the Year. Honoring the video game industry’s most innovative games, studios and creatives of 2024, this year’s impressive list of nominees includes 96 different games, individuals, and teams spanning a multitude of gaming genres and platforms.

This year’s Game of the Year nominees are ASTRO BOT from Team Asobi, Balatro from LocalThunk, Black Myth: Wukong from Game Science, Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree by FromSoftware, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth from Square Enix and Metaphor: ReFantazio from Studio Zero.

Over the past year, a number of beloved video games and franchises have crossed over into television and film. The following films and streaming shows are nominated for Best Adaptation: Arcane from Riot, Fortiche and Netflix;  Fallout from Bethesda, Kilter Films and Amazon Studios; Knuckles from Sega and Paramount; Like a Dragon: Yakuza from Sega/Amazon MGM Studios; and Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft from Crystal Dynamics/Legendary/Netflix.

Sony Interactive Entertainment is The Game Awards’ most nominated publisher in 2024 with 16 nominations across its combined portfolio, followed by Square Enix and Xbox with 12 nominations each, and Sega with 11. The nominees for The Game Awards are selected by a global jury of over 130 media publications and creator outlets from around the world.

As a digital-forward event, The Game Awards has bet big on live streaming since its inception in 2014. This year’s show will once again stream for free across more than 30 digital video platforms including Twitch, YouTube, Steam, X (formerly known as Twitter), Facebook, TikTok Live and many more. The Game Awards 2023 delivered a record-setting 118 million global livestreams, up 15% over 2022’s record-setting showcase. In addition, more than 17,000 individual content creators and online influencers co-streamed the show to their audiences, helping make The Game Awards one of the largest livestream events in the world.

From today through December 11th at 6 pm PT, fans will be able to help choose the winners in all categories via authenticated online voting on www.thegameawards.com.  In China, fans can vote for their favorites on a variety of platforms including Bilibili, WeChat, Douyin, Weibo, Huya, HeyBox, and Xiaohongshu.

Once again, The Game Awards is teaming up with Twitch for Twitch Predicts The Game Awards – an extension where participants can assemble a bracket of the titles they anticipate will win big at The Game Awards on December 12. Any co-streamer can install the extension through their Dashboard and have their community vote right away. Viewers can click the extension logo in any eligible stream to cast votes.

The Game Awards will air live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Thursday, December 12, 2024, with awards, world premiere new game announcements, and musical performances by The Game Awards Orchestra, conducted by Lorne Balfe. Tickets to attend The Game Awards in-person can be purchased on AXS.com.
