Play the North is a collection of Canadian developers and publishers that have come together to celebrate Canada's contributions to the tabletop world:
Play the North, the Canadian publisher initiative we've been building with our friends at KTBG, Burnt Island Games, Off the Page Games, Inside Up Games, and Pe Metawe Games, has its very first event Sept 25-27 in Edmonton.
The details:
Play the North Edmonton
Sept 25-27, 2026
Pe Metawe Games, 11805 94 St NW, Edmonton
Free and family-friendly
Festival hours:
Friday, Sept 25: 6:00pm-10:00pm
Saturday, Sept 26: 10:00am-10:00pm
Sunday, Sept 27: 10:00am-6:00pm

Pe Metawe is an Indigenous-owned retailer and community play space, and we couldn't ask for a better host for the inaugural event. Roxley titles showcased at the event will include preview of Brass: Pittsburgh, and demos of Excalibur, Skyrise, Santorini, and Riddle of the Sphinx, alongside games from the other PTN publishers.
For retailers: there's also a casual retailer and community mixer on Friday, Sept 25 from 4:15-5:15pm at the Nina Haggerty Centre for the Arts (9225 118 Ave NW), just before the festival floor opens. Gavan, Adam, and myself will be there along with the other PTN publisher founders. If you'd like to come, RSVP to playthenorth@gmail.com.
If you're in the Edmonton area, we would love to see you there.
