The Computer is your friend. Trust the Computer. The Computer wants you to play this game.

I haven’t had the opportunity to play the original Paranoia TTRPG but the idea of a competitive TTRPG rather than a cooperative experience is definitely interesting. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the award winning game, our friends at Modiphius have announced a board game set in the world of Paranoia. The Computer tells me it’s really cool. Trust the Computer.

Modiphius Celebrates 40 Years of Commie Mutant Traitors, with Paranoia – The Uncooperative Board Game

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SECURITY CLEARANCE: INFRARED – CLEARED FOR ALL CITIZENS

Attention Citizen: Welcome to Alpha Complex, the perfect (and in no way dystopian) city run by the benevolent and infallible Computer!

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Paranoia, Modiphius has announced that it will be releasing a highly replayable game of sci-fi slapstick one-upmanship for 2-6 players.  Paranoia: The Uncooperative Board Game will leave you and your friends in stitches – both figuratively and literally! The game will be released through retail distribution later this year.

THE COMPUTER IS YOUR FRIEND! TRUST THE COMPUTER!

Welcome Troubleshooters! You are among The Computer’s most elite (expendable) agents tasked with carrying out its completely insane demands. Prove your loyalty! Complete missions for The Computer (by sneaking and snitching and scheming) to earn the highest Clearance Level! Rest assured, your clone will absolutely not die in spectacularly horrible ways. In the unlikely event of their premature demise, your next clone will do better! Probably!

Shoot trouble in the face and/or other life-critical body parts with an array of perfectly (un)stable and not-prone-to-exploding equipment! Watch out for Troubleshooters using treasonous mutant powers and advancing the agendas of seditious secret societies! Report the treasonous activities of your friends! (Before they report yours!). Remember: The Computer is your friend. Trust The Computer…

FUN IS MANDATORY. FAILURE TO HAVE FUN IS TREASON. TREASON IS PUNISHABLE BY SUMMARY EXECUTION!

Chris-B-Irch, the totally unnecessary computer repair technician at Modiphius Entertainment described this opportunity. ‘Well, it’s a world-first isn’t it? We are launching the very first uncooperative board game! We worked hand in keyboard with our friend, The Computer, to devise this ingenious new twist on board game design to satisfy the cravings of Infrared citizens everywhere!”

Modiphius is a leading global publisher of tabletop games such as Fallout: Factions, Star Trek Adventures, and the upcoming Discworld TTRPG and Mass Effect the Board Game – Priority: Hagalaz.

Paranoia was created by Dan Gelber, Greg Costikyan and Eric Goldberg and first published in 1984.

STAY ALERT! TRUST NO ONE! KEEP YOUR LASER HANDY!

A life long video gamer, Mark caught the Tabletop itch in college and has been hooked ever since. Epic two player strategy games are his favorites but he enjoys pretty much everything on the tabletop, just no Werewolf please. When he gets a break from changing diapers and reading bedtime stories he can usually be found researching new games or day dreaming about maybe one day having time for a ttrpg. Some of Mark's favorite games are Star Wars: Rebellion, A Feast for Odin, and Nemesis.
