Today, Gearbox Software and 2K released version 1.8 of Borderlands 4, which includes a wave of free and premium endgame content. The update also add cross-platform saves.
Bounty Pack 3: A Zane to Kill for is a new, paid narrative expansion in which players journey into a neon-noir arcade game to solve the mystery of who murdered Zane('s Digi-Clone backup). The new repeatable mission features a new boss, two new mini-bosses, and new high-tier gear.
Alongside the Bounty Pack 3 launch, there is also the new Vault Card 3, which lets players earn new arcade-themed rewards, including 24 cosmetic items and four pieces of rerollable gear, through gameplay. Beginning with Bounty Pack 3, the core narrative expansion, A Zane to Kill For, and Vault Card 3 are available for individual purchase.

On the free side, you have Takedown at Hardon Abyss, a new endgame raid accessible via any major hub Raid Board afer completing the main campaign. This raid sends Vault Hunters into a brand new zone, Hardon Abyss, which has a secret underwater research station filled with horrors and apex predators.
Players’ builds and skills will be put to the test as they attempt to navigate the new sprawling area filled with mobs to go toe-to-fin with the final boss, the Child of Terramorphous. Enemies scale dynamically to party size, and players looking to push themselves to the limit can activate Mayhem levels or the one-life Hardcore mode for maximum intensity.
The takedown offers new and enticing rewards, with dedicated drops for both the miniboss and Child of Terramorphous, including:
- One New Pearlescent Weapon:
- Shark Bait (Tediore Shotgun): Damaging enemies applies stacks of Chum; when you build enough stacks, the enemy explodes for additional damage.
- Nine New Pieces of Legendary Gear:
- Ishmael (Order Sniper Rifle): Fires harpoons that bleed the targets for additional damage over time.
- Shoals (Jakobs Pistol): Critical hits deal splash damage, and Ricochets spawn damaging novas.
- Marshall's Claw (Maliwan Sniper Rifle): Fires three projectiles in a five-shot burst, with Fire Rate increasing after each shot.
- Swan Song (Daedalus Shotgun): Primary fire kills cause explosive cannonball projectiles to be fired from the underbarrel.
- Fishward (Jakobs Assault Rifle): Hitting your target will spawn fish projectiles that drunkenly swim towards any nearby enemies, which grant a stacking damage increase to your next magazine when they score a kill.
- Little Sister (Tediore Shield): When this shield is broken, it summons a drone that fires shots at nearby enemies when you land hits for a percentage of current weapon's damage.
- Vitae (Jakobs Repkit): Critical hits will heal you for a set amount.
- Ordinance (Tediore Grenade Ordnance): Throws a book-shaped grenade that spreads damaging pages as it travels.
- Draupner (Order Heavy Weapon Ordnance): Fires multiple projectiles that spawn even more projectiles, which return back towards you whenever they hit an enemy, bounce off a surface, or travel for a set amount of time.
- Five New Class Mods: A unique Class Mod will be available for each current Vault Hunter. A sixth Class Mod will be added to this loot pool in September when the next Vault Hunter, Loveless the Hacker, arrives in Story Pack 2.

The wave-based gauntlet mode from Borderlands 3 also returns, again free for all players. Circle of Slaughter asks players to survive five rounds of three increasingly tougher waves, culminating in a boss fight at the end of every round. Completing a round presents a choice: cash out or continue on.
Fallen co-op players enter a penalty box to spectate and actively support or troll teammates with special switches that deploy confetti, fecal waste, or elemental barrels. Additionally, spawning a Badass enemy directly into the arena provides an opportunity for immediate revival; if the remaining squad eliminates the threat, fallen Vault Hunters instantly rejoin the action.
Circle of Slaughter is designed to be a highly replayable experience, so players will have infinite chances to chase new loot and push their builds to try and make it all the way in one piece.

Bounty Pack 4: Murders and Acquisitions will arrive on July 30th alongside the version 1.9 update. In September, Bounty Pack 5 and Story Pack 2 will release featuring a new Vault Hunter: Loveless the Hacker.
Loveless is an ex-Anshin hacker turned assassin. Equipped with the highest-end cybernetics, Loveless also shares her mind with a digital virus of her own creation, which can digistruct into a physical form that acts as a deadly extension of her shared, perfection-seeking will. Stay tuned for more information on Loveless and the upcoming Story Pack 2 in the future!
