The city of Los Sueños is on the brink of a complete societal meltdown. The people have grown restless as the city has become plagued by violence. Tensions are high in the latest DLC for tactical shooter Ready or Not. In Boiling Point, you're facing an enemy who is just as equipped as you, and they're planning something big for Los Sueños.
Loading in at the headquarters, I was greeted by the roar of an angry crowd outside. There's smoke billowing into the air from various fires in the streets. Police stand guard behind a wall of shields. Inside, the shouts for accountability and an end to the violence become distant.

Boiling Point introduces three intense new intense missions. The first takes us to the Pier, where a group has attacked civilians gathered for a charity event while disguised as LSPD officers, lending even more to the confusion and the outrage. This is followed up with a trip to the bank that's been rigged with explosives. The bad guys are looking to cash a very different kind of check. After learning more about their plan, we head to the city hall to see if we can put a stop to it and free the city from these dark clutches.
This is one of the most intense DLCs yet for Ready or Not, especially for the world lore. We see the criminal group MLO (Mariposa Lily Organization) make a return; they were first referenced on the "A Lethal Obsession" map, where we learn they were a creation of the USIA (though this is never actually confirmed). They appear again in "3 Letter Triad" from the Dark Waters DLC if you find the MLO Meeting Room at the abandoned Elysian Hotel. In Boiling Point, they've finally emerged from the shadows and it's revealed that they exploited the Los Sueños riots and unrest that has lead to the city's decay.
This is the first time we are seeing explicit story continuity instead of the events being more isolated incidents. Up to this point, missions could be played out of order with little to no narrative loss or confusion. This decisively changed in Boiling Point since each mission leads to the events of the next, and even ties back to previous appearances of MLO. This is huge for world building in Ready or Not, especially for lore fans and those who like a good story, and I hope it's a trend they continue with future DLC releases.

This DLC also brought some other updates and changes for the base game, including three new weapons, though I am a creature of habit and haven't experimented with these yet. A 9-bang grenade has also been added if you want to blind the enemy A.I. into oblivion. There have also been a lot of changes for the attachment system, including the addition of variable magnification for some sights, the ability to equip multiple rail attachments and alternate between them, carry handle variants of the M4A1 and G36C, and some new ironsight options.
On top of that, players can now launch straight into a mission instead of having to stop at the headquarters first. Loadout and gear selection comes up while you're in the truck on the way to the mission area. Players can now also make changes to their loadouts while spectating teammates so they're ready to go if the mission needs to restart or to be prepared for the next. All of the new weapons and utility are free for all players, and the new maps are accessible to anyone as long as the host owns Boiling Point. After all that, there were also over 200 bug fixes and other quality of life improvements addressed in the RoN v1.4 release that brought us Boiling Point, making this for a hefty update.
