Representation is important. You hear that a lot, but what does it mean? It means seeing a Spider-Man that has the same hair as you. It means hearing Basim from Assassin’s Creed speaking fluent Arabic. It means creating a world that reflects our own, diverse and fully embracing all of the ways we are both different and the same. Companies have done this with varying degrees of success, and sometimes they get it wrong. I’m happy to say that I’ve run across a very subtle representation that gets it right.
Western Digital is probably not the company that comes to mind when you hear the word ‘representation’. However, they publicly possess a widely diverse workforce and support a number of important charities. Recently their internal team, We.Unidos (the Hispanic & Latin Employee Resource Group), partnered with two external groups (Latinx in Gaming, and Las Vegas Inferno) to breathe life into the newest version of their most prominent external drive, the WD_BLACK P40. With this brand new external hard drive, We.Unidos celebrates the voices of the Hispanic gaming community. Let’s get a more in-depth look at the WD_BLACK P40 Hispanic Heritage drive.
Together with We.Unidos, we’re introducing the WD_BLACK™ P40 Hispanic Heritage drive. Adorned with a mural-style heart, this portable drive celebrates and honors the passion of current Hispanic cultures along with generations past. We view the WD_BLACK P40 Hispanic Heritage drive as a symbol of our commitment to elevate the voices of the Hispanic gaming community, punctuated with this unique and inspired enclosure design.
At Western Digital, we take our devotion to serving all our customers seriously and will continue innovating new ways to be inclusive to every gamer. It is our honor to be part of a cause so important, but still so understated. Our shared goal with We.Unidos is to continue to spread awareness, kindle pride, and of course, fuel your game. To all members of the Hispanic gamer community: We invite you to play con toda pasión — with a game drive designed for you.
We reviewed the P40 drive last year and were very impressed with its sleek design and promising speed and that hasn’t changed — it’s a daily driver for video production and moving files here at Gaming Trend. The best thing? You don’t have to just trust our review – you can see for yourself! To join in the celebration, Western Digital has sponsored us to give away a whopping THREE, WD_BLACK P40 Hispanic Heritage drives here at Gaming Trend! Unfortunately, this offer is limited to the United States, but once the three winners are selected, we’ll expedite shipping to ensure you are able to partake in the amazing celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month!
Entering is simple enough — pop onto Twitter and tell us what you’d use this drive for. Winners will be chosen at random on Monday, October 16th and announced that same day.
We've got an awesome opportunity to celebrate Hispanic Heritage with a very cool partnership with Western Digital, We.Unidos, Latinx in Gaming, and Las Vegas Inferno. Drop by https://t.co/rfWX92tQeL for all the details: https://t.co/tOIxagoWi8 pic.twitter.com/ld1gojbpKp
