Hero Forge has come a long way. Over 7 years ago, I designed and purchased a model from them, and when it arrived, I immediately broke the base and a weapon on it. I was able to fix and paint the model, where it went on many adventures with me. While I loved how customizable the experience was and how I could dream up my character (a Warforged Life Cleric, if you must know), I was concerned about the quality.

Flash forward to today, those quality concerns are GONE because Hero Forge has sent me their newest product, customizable dice. That's right...customizable, 3D printed DICE. Holding them, I was immediately trying to figure out how they produced this, and at such a high quality.
From their press release:
Using the same advanced technology material jetting 3D printing process as our color miniatures, dice are printed at a high resolution of 21 microns per layer, using both clear and color resin simultaneously. After printing, each dice goes through a multi-step finishing process, from initial waterjet polishing to ensure uniform surfaces, to the final tumbling process that removes layer lines, creating a transparent, glass-like look.

Feels like magic, honestly. Taking a deep look at the dice, the quality of the print is pretty astounding. Both d20s had a profile of the character whose model they also sent me, in full color. While I am impressed with this feat, I feel like the numbers themselves need more contrast, but Hero Forge promises the ability to resize, reposition, and recolor the numerals, so this isn't that big of a concern.
The model they sent me was in full color and also pretty impressive. I haven't handled too many of their full color miniatures, but this was impressive, certainly beats out pre-painted models that you can find at the LGS. And, I couldn't immediately break it.

Launching on Kickstarter on March 6th, you'll be able to take any item or miniature from Hero Forge and put it inside of dice, including items from their Kitbashing & Hide Body options. You'll be able to build any customization of Dice, including life counter d20s.
The Kickstarter itself will have a variety of tiers & addons, including individual dice, complete sets, and early access to the Dice Maker design tool. There will be early bird specials, so expect the price to jump up (no price has been mentioned as of this article).
