Varney Lake, the next installment in the Pixel Pulps Anthology, releases on April 28th

Varney Lake, the second visual novel in the Pixel Pulps Anthology, is set to release on April 28th, 2023 on the PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, and the Nintendo Switch. Varney Lake follows paranormal investigator Lou Hill as he retraces the steps of three kid’s summer vacation from decades ago to find out the truth about a supposed encounter with a vampire. In case you missed our review of the first visual novel in the Pixel Pulps Anthology, Mothmen 1966, we quite enjoyed it, stating, “Mothmen 1966 is a gripping story of how three characters react when thrust into contact with the paranormal. Fast-paced and featuring fleshed-out characters, the story only falters as it nears its action-packed ending. VANCOUVER, Canada — March 14, 2023 — Varney Lake, the second visual novel in a series inspired by mid-20th century pulp fiction and ‘80s home computer graphics from developer LCB Game Studio and publisher Chorus Worldwide, will merge mysteries and monsters on Friday, April 28, 2023 for PC via Steam, PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Paranormal investigator Lou Hill can’t stop thinking about a mind-blowing case dating from the Summer of 1954. Help Lou retrace the steps of three kids’ summer vacation from decades ago, and collectively come to the truth behind their supposed encounter with a vampire. But Jimmy, and Christine, now in their 40s, may have murky memories of the time…and what really happened to Doug?

Recall the trio’s story via choice-based gameplay and explore the multiple roads of a branching interactive fiction without friction. Solve accessible, brain-tickling puzzles while learning more about the paranormal investigator himself in a dual-timeline story inspired by books with choices and branching narratives from the past. Decipher details between generations to finally close the book on a case left open for nearly 30 years.

Created by novelist Nico Saraintaris and artist Fernando Martinez Ruppel, Varney Lake follows its predecessor Mothmen 1966 as the second installment of the Pixel Pulps anthology.
