Nexon announce The First Descendant’s open beta start date and rewards

The First Descendant is Nexon’s upcoming PvE co-op shooter set in the battle-ridden continent of Ingris. To prepare for its release later this year, an open beta will be available to all those who register on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms. The beta runs September 19 -25 and features new content and performance improvements from feedback gathered in previous tests. Full details can be found in the official announcement below:

Additionally, Nexon will show players how they got to the current events that will be experienced at the beginning of the game via a substantial Prologue as they begin the Open Beta. Why did the Vulgus invade the Ingris continent? Why are they trying to get hold of the Iron Heart? How will humanity fight back? This will all be answered in The First Descendant’s Prologue.

Below are major updates and adjustments found in the upcoming Open Crossplay Beta:

—Performance Enhancements

–Improved frame rate performance

–HDR and NVIDIA® DLSS 3 support

–Utilizing latest Unreal Engine 5.2

–Performance and quality modes for PS5 and Xbox Series X | S

—Quality-of-Life Improvements

–Revamped grappling hook control and new parkour movements

–New module (previously called rune) system

–Improved jump motions

–Improved gun sound effects

–Updated UI, UX elements

—Updated Narratives and Prologue

–New additional storyline

–A mysterious new map (The Sterile Land)

—New Gameplay Content

–11 playable Descendants and two ultimate Descendants

–11 new ultimate weapons each with unique effects

–8 Void Intercept Battle bosses

–2 new Void Intercept Battle maps

–New cosmetic system

–Improved world missions

—New Open Beta Rewards 

–Available only to those who participate in the Open Beta

–All participants will receive a limited-edition social motion.

–Reach Descendant level 20 to receive a back-attachment customization item at launch.
