Ashes to ashes, Anodyne: Return to Dust to be released on PC, Mac, Linux this May

Analgesic Productions has announced that it will release Anodyne 2: Return to Dust on PC, Mac, and Linux this May. While the game is a follow-up the 2013 adventure RPG, this title will be a standalone sequel, so players will not have to play the predecessor to get into the action.

Play as Nova, the Nano Cleaner, who is tasked with collecting dangerous Nano Dust growing throughout New Theland, which then must be returned for recycling to a mysterious entity, only known as the Center.

Walk or ride across a lush, moody world in full 3D. Discover strange characters and places. Shrink into characters and collect Nano Dust through 2D, Zelda-like gameplay, reminiscent of the original Anodyne.

Features:

  • Run, jump and drive through 3D cities and natural landscapes, and find people who are infected with Nano Dust, and need to be cleaned. Then, shrink down into their bodies to enter surreal, 2D dungeons, where Nano Dust can be found!
  • While exploring 2D dungeons, use Nova’s Nano Vacuum in 2D to solve puzzles and defeat enemies by sucking up and shooting objects. She’ll also need the vacuum to collect Nano Dust and magical Cards scattered throughout the levels.
  • Use Nano Dust and Cards to unlock deeper reaches of Anodyne 2’s world.
  • Follow the story of Nova as she learns more about who “The Center” is, talks to a variety of creatures and people, and eventually grows to understand her role in the world as a Nano Cleaner.

Similar to the Final Fantasy franchise, there’s no need to play the original Anodyne to understand the story in Anodyne 2: Return to Dust, but longtime fans will find connections between the two! Discover the true nature of the Nano Dust, Nova, and The Center, in the latest game from Analgesic Productions!
