Rogue One is probably my second favorite Star Wars film after Empire. I loved the focus and uniqueness of each character, and I’m really glad to have cracked open the Cassian Andor, Jyn Erso & K-2SO Expansion for Star Wars: Legion, which packages the previous Operative packs of Jyn Erso and Andor/K-2SO together in a neat bundle!
What’s in the Box?

In the box are 3 awesome miniatures, with a big surprise. Jyn Erso isn’t on a sprue, rather, she’s just a pile of parts that you can easily glue together, but AMG always has instructions available online. Much like when I opened the Snowspeeder, this was a huge surprise.
Cassian and K-2SO are on sprues, with a few customization options. Cassian comes with his trademark A280, which is represented in both rifle and pistol forms. K-2SO comes with either an SE-14 blaster, a grenade for one hand, or you can just have him without any weapons, but where’s the fun in that?
Assembly was very easy with all of these models, surprisingly even K-2SO! If you need help assembling models, we have a handy guide for you.

How about the cards?

In the package, you’ll find all of the available cards for the expansion, which includes the 3 unit cards, 2 upgrade cards for Cassian,1 for K-2SO, and 7 Command Cards for the full expansion. Breaking them down, there are strengths and weaknesses to all 3.
Cassian has Danger Sense 3, which means he can take up to 3 suppression tokens and use those to help with defending against ranged attacks by rolling additional defense dice. Furthermore, he has Infiltrate, which allows him to deploy on the battlefield anywhere beyond range 3 of each enemy unit. He shares this with K-2SO, as the trusty droid has the Teamwork keyword. This basically means any aim or dodge token either unit gets, the other gets the benefit. Keep them together, keep them safe. K-2SO has Incognito, which means he cannot be attacked beyond Range 1, which makes the two of them paired up for survival and controlling objectives.
Jyn Erso is a little different. She is better off as an operative on her own. Agile gives her dodge tokens equal to each time she performs a move action. Disengage allows her to move, attack, or perform a standby action (basically she can bank either a move or attack on enemy movement). Nimble allows her to collect dodge tokens when she dodges…and you start to understand the point of her card. Use Jyn to quickly move on the field, creating opportunities for your squads.

Looking at the Commander Cards, you get some great powers. For Jyn Erso, she comes with 3 cards: Rebellious, Trust Goes Both Ways, and Complete The Mission. For Rebellious, she gains a Charge, which allows her to perform a move action into base contract to get a free melee attack or a suppression token. Trust allows her to gain Inspire 2 (this removes suppression tokens from a friendly) and give Teamwork to a friendly unit. As I pointed out earlier, Teamwork will then give the other unit collective benefits with her. Complete gives her Low Profile, which allows her to cancel an additional hit die based on cover.
For Cassian and K-2SO, there’s a bit more. First off, the upgrade cards. Cassian’s card are Reconfigure cards, which means the unit can change the weapon during the game. This represents the theatrical appearance of Cassian’s rifle, and allows for different dice rolls depending on the situation. The rifle version gives you High Velocity, which means the defender cannot spend dodge tokens, but the damage isn’t as powerful (one red dice and one black dice). The pistol variation gives you Long Shot, which allows you to spend aim tokens to increase the range of the pistol. K-2SO gets the SE-14 Blaster, and if Jyn is in your army, the cost of the upgrade is reduced by 5! How nice of her. The attack is pretty basic, giving you only 5 white dice to roll with. But you do get Pierce 1 which allows you to cancel 1 defensive dice.
Finally, the command cards for the pair bring a bit more punch to the table. Crack Shot allows Andor to gain an Aim Token, a Suppression Token, the Gunslinger keyword (which gives him an extra attack), which allows him to make 2 free attacks and spend the Aim token to re-roll them if it goes wrong. Last Stand allows Cassian and a trooper unit to Indominatable (allows a unit to roll red defense dice instead of whites) along with a choice of Aim, Dodge, or Suppression tokens for each Wound the unit has, up to 3. This allows for Cassian and that trooper to stay on an objective longer. Sacrifice allows K-2SO to take on 4 attack dice thanks to Guardian 4. He will also step in front of another ally in order to take all of the damage. Sad, but on theme. Finally, Volunteer Mission gives any unit that Cassian issues an order to (up to 2 units) Danger Sense, which if you remember allows the units to use Suppression tokens to roll defense die.
Once again, on point with the Rogue One theme.
Should I purchase this?
These members of Rogue One aren’t really meant for heavy combat, but they can protect themselves and hold an objective, much like in the movie. Players who want to favor a game where they win through objectives vs. defeat will enjoy this pack.
I love Rogue One, so I’m really thrilled with this pack and as I start to build a Rebel Army, they will be a part of it! Pick yours up from AMG or try your local game store, as this pack tends to sell out often.
