Toy Story: Retro Roundup! & Toy Story 3 Complete Edition hands-off preview at SGF 2026

"It's the perfect time to be hysterical!"

Toy Story: Retro Roundup! & Toy Story 3 Complete Edition hands-off preview at SGF 2026

While we were visiting the team at Atari we got to check out two more titles from Digital Eclipse – Toy Story: Retro Roundup and Toy Story 3 Complete Edition.  Both offer up a nostalgic look at the world of Toy Story, and I’m here to tell you a little bit about each one!  We only got a brief look at the collection, but let’s get into it.

Toy Story: Rewind is packed full, featuring Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Toy Story Racer, and Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, with A Bug’s Life (another Pixar classic!) thrown in as an awesome bonus.  It’s all the classics you’ve grown up with, but with modern conveniences, achievements, and other quality of life bonuses.  It also comes with exclusive interviews from folks like Jon Burton, Founder of Traveller's Tales (The entire LEGO series), Jim Hanks (Voice actor and writer, as well as voice of Woody in the games), Luigi Priore (VP, General Manager, Disney & Pixar Games), and Jason Katz (Story Supervisor for Pixar).  The game will also feature behind-the-scenes storyboards of how the team brought the games to life using the stories and characters of the Toy Story world for inspiration.  We didn’t get to see A Bug’s Life in action during our hands-off demo, but it is present for fans of the series.

There are a handful of quality of life upgrades that will span across all of Retro Roundup.  Rewind will let you rewind gameplay to retry any mistakes without losing progress.  You can now save and load save states at any point in the game, meaning you can save your progress and restart from anywhere at any time.  Rex’s Cheat Codes unlocks various cheats such as unlimited lives, level skips, and even invincibility.  Practice Mode lets you watch guided playthroughs of all of the levels, but with the added bonus of being able to jump right into the gameplay and take control at any time.  Similarly, “How to Play” gives you a modern and illustrated instruction set to tell you how to play using the upgraded controls and the localization of your choice.  Everything has also been upgraded to run at full resolution with upscaled graphics for all games as well.  It’s a solid improvement over basic emulation and it’s all in one place.

Toy Story Retro Roundup! comes to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, and PC on October 15th, 2026.

While Toy Story: Rewind gave us the original games as they were when they came out, the team at Digital Eclipse also gave Toy Story 3 a fresh coat of paint with a graphical overhaul. The game looks like it could have been made today as it's been upgraded to run on modern consoles in 4K/60.  It sports updated lighting and shadows, better textures, and frankly looks the way I remember it in my nostalgia-brain.

Not unlike what they did for Barbie Rewind, Toy Story 3: Complete Edition comes with a new Toybox Mode that lets you design and build new buildings to your heart’s content using the tools the developers used to bring this game to life.  The sky’s the limit with all of the textures, walls, furniture, and more at your fingertips.

Toy Story 3 Complete Edition comes our way on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and 5, Switch 1 and 2, and PC on October 15th, 2026.
