Lazy River hands-on preview

Chaos is not wild enough to describe this game

Lazy River hands-on preview

I kept seeing Lazy River as I was walking around Summer Game Fest: Play Days. I finally found what times I had free and asked if I could jump into a session. This game was seemingly extremely popular, as I couldn’t get an appointment that evening. However, I met Karlee and Michael, the developers for Lazy River, outside their station, who worked with the PR team and said they would come early on the final day so I could snag a session. So that’s what I did and got to enjoy Lazy River.

Lazy River’s concept is that, when you pee in the water park, the pee is absorbed back into the person, turning them into a zombie. So your goal as a living person is to escape the water park, as both zombies and park security want to kill you. Can’t have you holding them liable for the issues at the park, right?

Gameplay is hilarious as you’ll pick up pool noodles, water guns, water balloons, and more to help keep you alive as long as possible. The insane ways that the zombies explode in the water will keep you laughing all the way down the river. As you get further into the water park, you’ll face tougher and tougher enemies, so watch out!

Jumping from your raft to the land is essential to collect items as well as open gates, but be prepared, there could be anything hiding in plain sight!

You’ll also have access to crafting in a survival-style game. I crafted a bow with arrows and really felt like I decimated the competition with it. During gameplay, I played alongside Michael, who helped me learn the ropes that I couldn’t figure out simply by playing. Lazy River is extremely intuitive and easy to navigate.

We ended up making it to the end before I had to leave for my next appointment. It was hilarious amounts of fun, chaotic in all the right ways. And set to be a great time for friends to play together.

You can wishlist Lazy River now on Steam!
