With their return in College Football 25, the CFB franchise has been working hard to make sure everything is as great as it possibly can be after moving the franchise forward in CFB26 and now leading us to College Football 27.

As we discussed in the Madden NFL 27 hands-off preview, there are a lot of areas where this game and Madden now align from a gameplay perspective (please check out our coverage of Madden NFL 27 for those details). College Football 27 has a lot to offer this year including a lot of specific additions to Road to Glory and Dynasty.
The game will officially be on PC this year, marking a new era for the College Football franchise bringing in an entirely new group of players.

Road to Glory
The team at EA Sports have taken the choices and consequences of the previous game and ramped them up tenfold. There are a lot of changes the team went through, but these are the ones that had me most excited.
There will be quizzes you have to complete for school including everything from Science to Spanish. Don’t study for your Spanish exam and the entire thing will be purely in Spanish. Wild! Don’t prioritize your health and well-being and you’ll lose some athleticism and gain some weight. This all impacts you at the end of the year as your coaches will have the ability to tell YOU to transfer if you don’t fit the culture anymore or don’t produce at the highest levels.

You will also have access to Team Builder for the High School segments of the game which was a big ask from the fan base.
There are three new positions you can play with Tight End (TE), Edge Rusher (EDGE), and Free Safety (FS). Each one will bring something new to the table. I was really excited about seeing the TE blocking as that brings us one step closer to seeing OL play in Road to Glory.
You will, of course, have the chance to send your player to Madden Superstar Mode at the end of the career.

Dynasty
HUGE updates to Dynasty come in the form of AD Expectations, Dynasty Blueprints, and the newest version of the Coaching Carousel.
From the AD Expectations, you’ll have CLEAR expectations from the school from the jump as to what they’re expecting from you as their new coach. Some schools will want championships and wins most. Some will be patient while others are less accommodating to failure. You’ll also have some schools (such as Michigan and Ohio State) that will have a major focus on beating their rivals. You could win every game but if you lose to a rival you could be on the hot seat. Simply so much fun.

You may want to leave your school to go to a bigger school, but you may see those expectations and realize you might need some more time to marinate and gain experience before making the move to a bigger setup.
With Dynasty Blueprint, you’ll have everything from Coaching Staff to NIL and even facilities and equipment. Coaching Staff will be easily able to move around in the new Coaching Carousel as you’ll be able to pick and choose from multiple coaches both those fired and those on other teams. If you match their needs, you might have a good chance at bringing them over to your team!

NIL will complicate a LOT. Gone are the days of small schools having a miracle two-year turnaround and winning a National Title. Now, you’ll not only be fighting to keep recruits’ interest, you’ll also be managing their NIL aspirations. Not only for the first year, but every year they’re on your team. Things could get very intense very quickly trying to keep players if you do well one year but don’t have the NIL.
Facilities are going to be very interesting as they can impact not only if a player wants to play for your school, but the health and happiness of your players year to year. If your facilities stink, well, young players might choose the school down the road for that reason. Equipment is more of a short-term deal that adds effects from a week to week basis, more on that to come later on this summer.
From a Team Builder perspective, the EA Sports team has loved seeing the creativity of the fan base and has rewarded us with the ability to do even more including adding sounds iconic to your team building team, changing the backgrounds, stands, color schemes, jumbotron, and more. I personally cannot wait to see the fun that the CFB fans will create!

Extras
We finally have Mascot Mode back in the form of Mascot Matchup, this will be a lot of wild fun with level 99 all around and plenty of insane plays to go through. You’ll have access to get 10 mascots at launch with more to be unlocked.
Some updates to the uniforms come to CFB 27 as backplates, hanging mouthpieces, and more are there for you to customize players the way you see fit!
We will also be getting new broadcast packages as well as the Heisman Trophy Ceremony! These are all welcome additions to the game and items players have been asking for since College Football came back into our lives.

College Football 27 has a chance to outpace College Football 26 by a long mile if everything we saw comes to fruition! You’ll be able to play it early with the MVP Plus bundle which provides both games and more for $150, at the end of the year, you’ll still own both games. We’ll see how the final product looks sooner than later!
