With EA’s conference a thing of the past, we are another year gone with still nary a peep about a new entry in the fan-requested Skate franchise. Picking up the slack for EA, crea-ture Studios in Montreal are bringing their Kickstarted skateboarding game to Xbox One sometime in 2019.
If you can’t quite wait that long, then it will be available to play in Xbox One Game Preview and in Early Access on PC. The studio is looking to evoke the 90s and 00s heyday of skateboarding. They say of their inspiration:
Inspired by a golden era of skateboarding – the early ’90s through the early 2000s – Session captures the true culture of the sport, where the goals are expressing your creativity and learning progressive tricks through hard work, perseverance and a bit of madness. The game has authentic recreations of some of the most legendary skate spots on earth, where you can film your friends and blow minds by creating the gnarliest video parts (in classic VHS style, of course).
They are looking to incorporate a dual analogue control scheme that sounds somewhat similar to Skate, but in this case each stick controls one foot, ratcheting up the control from those classic games. You can check out the game and the studio’s progress here on their kickstarter page.
