The amount of hubs I get pitched at GamingTrend is bordering on excessive, and none of them have anything particularly compelling to report. Sure, they might add an additional port here or there, or they might do something interesting aesthetically, but it doesn’t set the world on fire. Well, Sabrent is bucking that trend with something entirely new and incredibly useful — they’ve combined the utility of a monitor arm mount with a hub, and with a huge array of connectivity options. Let’s dig into the details:
Get the benefits of cutting-edge Thunderbolt 4 technology in a universal docking station that conveniently mounts to your desk, enhanced with a gas-lift arm for one or two (with SB-DSAM) monitors. The Sabrent Thunderbolt 4 Docking Station with Monitor Desk Mount (DS-T4WA) docking station connects through Thunderbolt 4 (TB4) to deliver a TB4 downstream port as well as four USB ports – two 10Gbps (USB 3.2 Gen 2×1) USB-C ports, one 10Gbps USB-A port, and one 5Gbps (USB 3.2 Gen 1×1) USB-A port – to host a wide range of devices. Also built-in is a UHS-II (312MBps) microSD/SD card reader, a 3.5” audio in/out port, and Gigabit Ethernet (1GbE) for fast and reliable wired network connectivity. Dock and expand with ease.
Quickly and conveniently configure your displays to match your work environment. Combine the station with one to three monitors (see note) with output up to 8K@30Hz (DP/HDMI) or 8K@60Hz/4K@144Hz (TB4) singly and 4K@60Hz (DSC) simultaneously in extended or mirrored display modes. The desired displays may be connected via the HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, and TB4 ports. The single arm on this mount, or dual arms with our Upgrade Kit (SB-DSAM), support the standard VESA 75/100 mounting patterns for monitors and displays up to 32” in size and 10kg/22lbs in weight. The gas-lift controls vertical positioning from 0-650mm and the arm plate is capable of 360-degree swivel, 90- to -45-degree tilt, and +/- 90-degree rotation for ultimate flexibility.
The device supports a single mount, dual, or even a triple mount (provided your gear can handle it, of course), with a host of little touches to raise it to the next level. 60W power passthrough (PD3.0), 8K support (DP 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 ports at up to 8K@30Hz or the TB4 port at up to 8K@60Hz/4K@144Hz (DSC) with HDR & HDCP2.3 support. Dual and triple (Windows) display output at up to 4K@60Hz is possible with MST hosts), three 10Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2×1 ports, 2x USB-C/1x USB-A, with up to 5V/3A charging for high-power devices, a USB-A port for things like keyboards and mice, a gigabit RJ45 Ethernet port, and even a dual microSD/SD card reader. It’s even got an audio input/output 3.5mm jack for sound support. Frankly, I’m blown away by the utility of this combined device and I’m not sure why somebody hasn’t thought of this before.
The arms support up to 22 pounds on a 32″ monitor, with positioning from 0-650mm, with a 360-degree swivel, 90- to -45-degree tilt, and +/- 90-degree rotation, so it should work for just about any configuration. The DS-T4WA is already available on Amazon, with the SB-DSAM extra arm kits also available at launch. The price is a little bit eye-watering, but given how much you’ve likely paid for a monitor, and all that Sabrent has managed to pack into this device, it makes sense. Couple that with excellent warranty support and Sabrent’s commitment to quality that we’ve seen in their other products and it’s a sure bet.
