Scalping is a well-known pain point is most fields, especially in the tech field. It looks like NVIDIA is taking even more precautions to combating scalpers. They announced details regarding the process you need to take to try to purchase the new RTX 4080. Following their trial launch, they took more steps to ensure an easy launch. You can check out those steps from the announcement below:
Firstly, Verified Priority Access will give a limited number of opportunities to purchase GeForce RTX 4080 graphics cards shortly after the worldwide release on November 16th. At the same time, a limited quantity of GeForce RTX 4090 graphics cards will also be made available. Invited users will receive a unique link to purchase a single graphics card on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last.
Secondly, we are working with our participating etail partners and add-in-card partners to include more GeForce RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 models in the Verified Priority Access trial, in addition to NVIDIA’s limited Founders Edition design. Availability of these additional models will vary by etailer.
This limited-time invite will connect GeForce gamers and creators to their respective regional etail partners, including Best Buy (United States), Scan (United Kingdom), NBB (Germany and Netherlands) and LDLC (France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, and Luxembourg).
Also of note: we’re opening sign-ups to be considered for a Verified Priority Access invitation. There may be many more sign-ups than cards available in this trial, so enrolling does not guarantee getting selected for an invitation. At this time, sign-ups are open for NVIDIA Accounts that were created on or before November 15th, 2022.
Gamers can sign-up using the same account they used for GeForce Experience, here. We have also posted this new information to our GeForce.com news page here: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/account/verified-priority-access/.
