I have a new thing for you to add to your list of “things I didn’t know I needed” that I’m sure you’re keeping tabs on. Puffin Drinkwear takes drink thermal wear to a whole other level, with cool drinkwear that puts those boring can koozies to shame. They were kind enough to send a couple examples over for me to check out, The Hoodie and The Resort, and it’s safe to say I might have a new addiction.
For those not familiar, Puffin Drinkwear is a company that sells functional styles for your beverages. In 2019, they started looking for the answer to a question no one had even thought to ask before, what if this drink had a sleeping bag? And, thus, Puffin Drinkwear was born. What started off as beverage sleeping bags has now evolved into drinkwear of many different kinds and shapes, which we’ll touch more on later.
The two that I have, The Hoodie and The Resort, are a literal hooded sweatshirt and a bathrobe respectively. The Hoodie fits your typical 12 fl oz can while The Resort is for wine and champagne bottles. Cans slip easily into The Hoodie, and The Resort can be unbuttoned to allow for easy bottle placement. All drinkwear offered has a hard plastic bottom that keeps your beverages standing upright as well. The only, very small, drawback about The Hoodie is that you have to pull the top down a good bit to be able to drink from the can, but you can also use a straw to counter that.
Puffin Drinkwear will keep your beverages cool with an insulation layer inside, and the arms of each piece are tucked into little pockets and can act as handles so you don’t accidentally drop your drink, except the vests because they don’t have arms. There’s a good selection of shapes and sizes to choose from, most having different style options as well. Send your cola on an adventure in The Space Suit, rep your football colors with The Gridiron, or hit the beach with The Aloha. There’s a style and design for everyone!
There are already a few collaborations available, including a Puffin x Peanuts Charlie Brown Hoodie and Puffin x RealtreeCamo Hoodie, as well as a couple Pacific NW college teams. I really hope they’re able to expand to other brands and franchises (can I get a Vikings Gridiron please?), and maybe even some video game-themed options. I can easily see myself collecting a fair number of these in the future.
Of course, collecting comes at a cost, though I’d say the novelty alone can justify spending a few extra dollars. Most Drinkwear items are around the $24.95 USD mark, with some a little higher and some a little lower. There’s also bundled options available to get multiple items for a bit of a discount.
