I have been using the same Amazon microphone for over 6 years and never bothered to upgrade or change it because I never stopped to listen to my voice. At that point, I wasn’t recording a lot anyway and was only running tabletop games. My Amazon-branded microphone does the job just fine, but it’s nothing special. It is a touch too big for my liking and does have noise suppression. In contrast, the VERSATI go has built-in noise suppression, is the perfect size, and is better to use while I’m working.
This microphone is $69.99 and wow: you get a lot of quality for the price. I just want to plug a microphone in and have it work. The VERSATI go does just that. You can pull it right out of the box, plug it in, and it just works. It connects to the computer using a USB connection and nothing more. Overall, the whole unboxing experience was extremely pleasant. Every component comes out with ease and the whole setup process took me around 5 minutes. The VERSATI go advertises noise-free sound, and it’s true. I have been using it with Discord and recording game clips, and my audio has never sounded better.
About the Product
The VERSATI go is a condenser microphone that has done its job flawlessly during my time with it. I have not had any background noise complaints when running online Dungeons and Dragons games or when capturing audio to go with my game recordings.
This microphone has a Cardioid Polar Pattern, making it more sensitive to noise in the front and less sensitive to noise from behind: I can verify this as I often watch TV and sit on Discord at the same time and no one has been able to hear my TV. Connection is a breeze because the VERSATI go uses a standard USB-C connection.
For those of you who know the more technical facts about microphones, I have some information for you. The Sample Rate goes up to 96 kHz and has a Frequency Response of 20Hz – 20kHz. The VERSATI go has a Sensitivity of -38dB and a Max SPL of 110 dB.
Inside the box, you’ll also find an adjustable stand to use. I don’t use it because I have the AVerMedia FLEXI microphone arm that serves my purposes perfectly. That said, the stand is solid and easy to set up. It’s also sturdy and will keep its balance. There is a spot on the back that fits a 3.5 mm headphone jack, which has become my dominant jack. The stand itself only weighs 76.3g (2.69oz). The microphone fits in the palm of your hand and weighs 291.9g (10.3oz). You’re not going to have any issues lifting or moving this microphone.
Practical Use
One thing I want to highlight is how easy this microphone is to use. The mute button on the back is huge and easy to hit as you’re getting ready to turn the microphone off. There is also a little red light that lets you know if the microphone is on or not. You might not need that though because the microphone glows red when it’s on, something that I love to see. After all, it keeps the space relatively illuminated.
You won’t have any issues with moving the microphone or connecting it to any mounts. I have it attached to a microphone arm, but did test it with my old microphone stand and it fit fine. You can add a windscreen to the microphone too and, although one doesn’t come in the box, I just removed the old one from my previous microphone to test it out. Keep in mind that depending on your setup this might be overkill because in my experience the VERSATI go does a fantastic job at making sure no background noise is picked up.
Final Thoughts
I never paid attention to microphones before. I didn’t care about how I sounded on video and figured I could just get noise-canceling equipment separately. But listen, the VERSATI go has you covered on all fronts. It’s lightweight, fits in the palm of my hand, and looks fantastic. All in all, I love this microphone and won’t be getting a new one anytime soon.

The VERSATI go is a fantastic microphone at an affordable price point. If you need a microphone, this is the one to get.
