... and complaining about "Liberal" sensibilities on a topic where legal documents should reflect the "Liberal" gender equality isn't more of a waste of time? Frankly, I'd like to see legal documents move into the twenty-first century beyond just gender-biased wording.
As a Canadian with all my rights reserved, I shouldn't NEED a lawyer to well-represent myself in any legal sense - the fact that laws, which hold centuries of good grammar and poor clarity in common language, apply to all people, the words should be clear enough to understand to a lower common denominator.
Updating a few words to remove gender bias is far beneath what needs to be done, but it is certainly a step in the right direction.
Frankly the words "uninstall" and "un-thaw", both prevalent in common vernacular, bother me far more than someone updating fisherman to fisher. Manhole cover got a pass though, and I'm grateful for that. (it makes me giggle a little whenever I hear it
