Why the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pros should be your choice for competitive gaming

As someone who plays Call of Duty and loves engaging in the competitive side, I’ve learned my weapons are more than just my loadouts. Having the right gaming gear is important, and where PDP’s Victrix Pro BFG is my controller of choice, SteelSeries’ Arctis Nova Pro is 100% the headset to use. After using these bad boys for two years, here are my reasons as to why you should be using them as well. If you’re interested in what I originally thought about the Nova Pros, here’s my review.

First, comfort. When you’re sitting in front of a screen battling for the good of mankind… or more likely your kill death ratio, you don’t want your headset to get heavy after a while or pinch your ears. Enter the Nova Pro… honestly, any SteelSeries headset, but especially the Nova Pro. Not only are the ear cups quite comfy, but the ski-band keeps your head nice and unhampered from the weight of the headset. Trust me, I’ve played Call of Duty all day and never had an issue with the comfort level of the Nova Pros.

Secondly, fine-tuned 40mm drivers. I’ve talked in length in headset reviews about the different avenues headset makers take in delivering their audio. In lower quality ones, you’ll find volume is paramount; and that is because they’re trying to mask the lower quality sound you receive. The Nova Pros don’t need to hide anything, because what you’re getting is outstanding quality. I’ve been able to leave my volume lower because SteelSeries is providing stellar sound, both spatially and in general.

Third, active noise cancellation. We all know that sometimes the noise outside of your headset can be distracting. Just an odd sound from your washer could be enough to take your eyes off the screen, resulting in horrible timing as your 1v1 opponent steps around the corner. With SteelSeries active noise cancellation, this is a thing of the past. It’s so powerful, I use it when I write, allowing ANC to keep the outside world from pulling me from the page. If it can help with that, surely it can give you the additional focus to gun that guy off a headglitch for the clutch.

Fourth, battery life. Battery limitations more or less don’t exist for your Nova Pros. Sure, you can run the battery down to need a recharge, but there’s a benefit beyond the great 20+ hour battery life. In an instant, you can swap a battery from your GameDAC station in, giving you another 20+ as the other battery charges. Long-lasting batteries are always great, swappable ones are even better.

Lastly, you will never be the same once you use SteelSeries Sonar software. I haven’t been. This software will amplify everything about your gaming experience, with tons of EQ presets for the games you’re playing. I already mentioned playing Call of Duty, and there is nothing like turning and burning an incoming soldier because you heard him open the door to your left. I say that because I’ve literally done it quite a few times. I’ve even been able to hear someone planting and defusing a bomb in Search and Destroy.

The things Sonar enables you to do is simply incredible. You can use it on PC with any headset, but you’ll get the best out of a SteelSeries headset, especially the Nova Pros. Bonus here: you can even preload your favorite onto the GameDAC station to use with your consoles!

To summarize, you really need your own SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro headset. This is a weapon that will give you an advantage on the gaming battlefield, with tons of great features that extend beyond its competitors. You can grab your own via this handy link here, now in white!
