Shatterpoint: Plans and Preparations Squad Pack review — always be prepared

The Plans and Preparations Squad Pack introduces Jedi Master Luminara Unduli as a new Primary Character. Luminara is joined by her Padawan, Barris Offee, as well as a unit of Republic Clone Commandos for support. 

Both Luminara and Barriss synergize with Galactic Republic units like the Clone Commandos they come with, but they also easily integrate with all of the Galactic Republic units in the core box, seamlessly allowing you to expand your Strike Team building options without sacrificing synergies. 

Luminara is also an excellent choice for those who don’t love the randomness of the order deck or who want some extra knowledge to get a leg up on their opponent. Luminara has a passive effect that allows her to peek at the top card of the order deck before choosing to activate your reserve unit or not. That extra bit of information can provide a huge benefit when every turn matters. 

Barriss has a very strong Force Push that can win objectives for you and buffs herself and friendly close-by Jedi on attacks if they are engaging the same target. Combining her Force Push ability with the multiple shoves that she can access in her combat tree makes her a powerhouse for controlling objectives, though she is vulnerable to ranged attacks with only 4 defense dice.

The Republic Clone Commandos excel at getting to the objective quickly with extra movement and abilities like Scale. They have extra armor and defensive abilities to survive the enemy's attacks and attempts to remove them once they get into dangerous situations. Combined with clones from the core set or other squad packs, they round out a clone-focused Strike Team with decent melee potential and extremely powerful ranged attacks that easily provide critical strikes.

The assembly of all of the units in this pack is straightforward and easy. The only minor gripe I have is how small Barriss’s feet are, which makes her a little unstable due to the tiny connection point to the base. The plastic glue I used failed, and I had to re-glue her to the base with some super glue.
