When playing Cyberpunk 2077's first act, have you ever thought, "Wow, Dexter DeShawn sure has some cool shades"? Well now you can wear them yourself! Gunnar sent me a pair of the Cyberpunk 2077 Dex Glasses to review and I've been putting them through their paces, so let's get right into it.
The Dex glasses come in three lens colors: yellow, amber, and blue. All three will block bluelight, with the main difference being in how much they filter - blue is intended to be used as sunglasses. I received the amber version, which is true to Dex's look in the game and rated 90 on Gunnar's Focus level. The tint makes everything look, as you would expect, amber. It certainly does help filter blue light, though I find they make indoor lighting just a bit too dark for me. Instead, I used them more as sunglasses, wearing them on daily walks in my area.

I'll admit, I did feel a bit stupid walking around with these on my face, but that's mostly because I know they're from a video game and not explicitly intended for this purpose. Putting that aside, they actually look pretty stylish on just about anyone, with the oversized, angular lenses and steel colored Magnesium Alloy frames creating a unique look. I especially like the screw-like dots around the outside of the lenses, giving the lenses a clean look while attaching them to the inner frame. They're certainly a little outlandish and might get some odd looks, but I quite like them. My dad also looked pretty good when he tried them on, if that means anything.
In a bright, outdoor setting, I found they filtered sunlight pretty well, making my eyes a lot more comfortable. Oddly, they do emphasize the color green quite a bit, so leaves on a tree, for example, will stand out a lot more in your vision. It's a strange effect, but after a few minutes it didn't bother me all that much. Something that took a lot longer to adjust to was the sheer thickness of the lenses. I don't wear prescription lenses, so the slight change in vision was pretty jarring and gave me a bit of a headache the first few times I wore them. It's not a super pronounced effect, they just make everything look higher than usual, if that makes sense. Additionally, the nose bridge will block your vision just a tad more than usual, which is hard not to unsee when you notice it. A little more flexibility in that area would have helped a lot.

Speaking of flexibility, or a lack thereof: the arms, or temples, look and feel a bit flimsy and cheap at first. I had assumed they were plastic until I checked the website, but they're actually super sturdy. Trying intentionally to bend them, there's no give whatsoever that I can perceive, so these things won't come apart if you drop them.
Finally, let's talk about the cleaning cloth and carrying sleeve. The microfiber cloth features a map of Night City on one side, specifically the Downtown, Corpo Plaza, and Vista Del Rey areas with a bit of Watson on top and Japantown to the side. It feels like a somewhat random slice of the map, but it's still a pretty cool cloth. The other side is black with the Gunnar and Cyberpunk 2077 logos on it, similar to both sides of the sleeve. The sleeve is very weird to me. It's puffy, which I suppose would protect the glasses, but it's also pretty huge as a result. I couldn't really carry these in a pocket, but it would fit in a bag or purse of sufficient size.
Cyberpunk 2077 Dex Glasses
Great
The Cyberpunk 2077 Dex Glasses from Gunnar work great as all purpose eyewear. They're a little dark indoors, but filter blue light really well and claim 100% UV blockage for outdoor excursions too. They have a few issues, like distortion from such thick lenses or the bridge standing out a bit too much, but they're stylish, comfortable, and work well in a variety of settings.
Pros
- Filters blue and UV light very well
- Cool design
- Very sturdy
Cons
- Such thick lenses cause some distortion
- Bridge is pretty noticeable while wearing
- Carrying sleeve is too big to be practical
