Now watch me whip, Phantom Abyss now available in Early Access

If you want your temple runs with a twinge of permadeath, Devolver Digital has just announced that the asynchronous multiplayer game Phantom Abyss is now on Steam via Early Access. The game will allow players to explore treacherous temples filled with traps in order to attain relics, with the gimmick that each temple can only be attempted once, and they are guided by the phantoms of other players attempts.

Temple plundering developer Team WIBY and whip-cracking publisher Devolver Digital are excited to announce that the asynchronous multiplayer adventure Phantom Abyss has launched headfirst into Steam Early Access.

Phantom Abyss casts players into trap-laden, procedurally-generated temples, and tasks them with retrieving the sacred relics hidden within their walls. Dodge scores of hidden traps, leap treacherous chasms and flee relentless guardians through branching paths until one of the relics are claimed or the devices of death overwhelm them. The most cunning explorers will use the phantom runs of failed attempts from other players to their advantage and avoid the missteps and mistakes that led to their doom, but be warned – you only get one attempt at each temple, and failure or settling for a lesser relic means you will never see that temple again…

Phantom Abyss will continue to expand throughout Early Access, with new chambers, traps, whips, zones and additional gameplay features added over time. For more information, rope swing over to phantomabyss.com, a website of such historical value it belongs in a museum.
