NieR: Automata, the anticipated follow-up to the 2010 action-RPG NIER, is coming to PlayStation 4 and Steam for PC in early 2017.
The game is being developed by PlatinumGames, and will follow android protagonists 2B, 9S, and A2 as they fight to reclaim a “machine-driven dystopia”.
The announcement also touts some notable figures who are attached to the project, including NieR director Taro Yoko, Final Fantasy XIV character designer Akihiko Yoshida, Metal Gear: Revengeance game designer Takahisa Taura, and NieR composer Keiichi Okabe.
When NieR launched in 2010, we gave it a score of 90/100.
