The Mortal Shell II Open Beta is now live worldwide on Steam, revealed today at Summer Game Fest by publisher Playstack and developer Cold Symmetry. It serves as the first public hands-on look at the brutal dark fantasy action-RPG sequel, giving you access to roughly the opening three hours of the main game.
The beta covers the game's Prologue and an early stretch of its open world, where you begin the Harbinger's journey by claiming your first Shells, meeting your disciples, and recovering the lost Ova. Along the way, you will explore dungeons, take on mini-bosses, and face one especially formidable enemy. Those who push past Marrow Keep will also earn the ability to skip the Prologue when the full game launches.
As an added incentive, anyone who plays the Open Beta will unlock the Flayed Harbinger, an exclusive cosmetic reward that can be claimed in the full release.
