CI Games has revealed brutal new gameplay for Lords of the Fallen II during today's Nintendo Direct, confirming that the soulslike action-RPG sequel will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. This marks the first time the franchise has ever appeared on a Nintendo platform. The Switch 2 version joins previously announced releases on PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, fulfilling the studio's "players first" pledge in the wake of the 2023 entry surpassing 8 million players.
On Switch 2, the sequel runs in Unreal Engine 5 in both handheld and docked modes, targeting a stable 30fps with the help of Nanite, Lumen, and bespoke optimizations developed in coordination with Epic and Nintendo. Game Director James Lowe credited the close collaboration between the teams for ensuring that the game's dark fantasy world and fast, brutal combat translate cleanly to Nintendo hardware, calling it the best possible way for new Lampbearers to step into the realms of Axiom and Umbral.
For the first time in the history of the franchise, independent developer CI Games will bring the soulslike action-RPG, Lords of the Fallen, to a Nintendo platform. As unveiled with brutal new gameplay* during Nintendo Direct, the highly anticipated Lords of the Fallen II will launch on the Nintendo Switch™ 2 system. Using both Nanite and Lumen technology, the game achieves higher poly models and fully dynamic global illumination alongside other bespoke optimizations, thanks to careful engineering coordination between the development team, Epic and Nintendo.
“Our team is hard at work to ensure Lords of the Fallen II’s signature dark fantasy world and fast, brutal combat translate directly to the Nintendo Switch 2, and we’re very happy with how the game currently looks and plays,” said Game Director, James Lowe. “This marks the first time that Nintendo players will explore the realms of Axiom and Umbral, and these new Lampbearers deserve to experience the game at the best quality possible on a great platform. Thanks to the team’s work and the support from Nintendo and Epic, we’re confident it will be a fantastic way to play Lords of the Fallen II."
CI Games is aiming to deliver a “bolder, braver, and bloodier” evolution of its flagship franchise with Lords of the Fallen II, building directly upon extensive community feedback from the 2023 title and the lessons learned through more than 70 post-launch updates.
