The long-running and beloved Far Cry series of video games appears to be continuing. Today, a detailed leak surfaced on the internet that revealed quite a bit of interesting information regarding the upcoming sixth entry in the franchise.
Though it is no longer accessible, Hong Kong PlayStation 4 owners were able to view a page on the PlayStation store for none other than Far Cry 6. Despite the page being removed from the store, that didn’t stop gamers from taking screenshots of the page and uploading them to the internet for others to see. On the page, we can see what appears to be the game’s cover art, with Giancarlo Esposito taking center stage as the main antagonist, Anton Castillo. The game listing on the store reads:
Welcome to Yara, a tropical paradise frozen in time. As the dictator of Yara, Anton Castillo is intent on restoring his nation back to its former glory by any means, with his son, Diego, following in his bloody footsteps. Their ruthless oppression has ignited a revolution.
Furthermore, the official Far Cry social media profiles shared a brief ten-second teaser online, showing a quick look at Anton in the game. At the end of the teaser, it confirms that more details and presumably, more footage of the game will be revealed on July 12 at the Ubisoft Forward event.
Players will be placed in the shoes of Dani Rojas, who is a “local Yaran who becomes a guerilla fighter to liberate the nation”. You will also be able to “employ makeshift weapons, vehicles, and Amigos, the new Fangs for Hire, to burn the tyrannical engine to the ground.”
In addition, the description of the listing suggests that the latest entry in the series will be available on both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles. If players purchase the game on the PlayStation 4, they are entitled to a next-gen upgrade for free.
