First official teaser and details released for Far Cry 6

Just yesterday, many leaks for the upcoming sixth installment in Ubisoft’s long-running Far Cry franchise surfaced online, which included release date details, compatible consoles, and more. Today at the Ubisoft Forward event, it was officially confirmed that Far Cry 6 will be released on February 18, 2021, for the Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Stadia.

We also now know that Giancarlo Esposito will be portraying the game’s main villain, Anton Castillo. Anthony Gonzalez is also set to star alongside Espositio as Diego, his son that is eager to follow in his father’s footsteps. The game will thrust players into a tropical paradise known as Yara in the midst of a guerilla revolution. Anton Castillo promises its citizens that he will return the country to its former glory, and will stop at nothing until his vision comes to fruition. Gamers will be taking control of Dani Rojas, a local resident who attempts to take down Castillo and put an end to his tyranny. A vast array of weapons and vehicles will be at your dispense as you travel through Yara and its capital city Esperanza, as well as the ability to employ Fangs For Hire such as Chorizo, who is described as “the cutest wiener dog on wheels”.

Furthermore, Ubisoft also announced the various different versions of the game that will be available to pre-order, which includes the Gold, Ultimate, and Collector’s Editions. The Gold Edition contains the base game and the Season Pass. The Ultimate Edition includes the same items, in addition to the Ultimate Pack, which comes with the Jungle Expedition, Croc Hunter, and Vice packs. Finally, the Collector’s Edition includes every aforementioned item as well as a display model of “Tostador”, one of the flamethrowers used in-game, a “How to Assemble” artwork booklet illustrated by Tobatron, a Collector’s Case, an exclusive steelbook, a 64-page artbook, a set of 10 stickers, a Chorizo keyring, a map, and the soundtrack to the game.

If gamers pre-order Far Cry 6, they will gain access to the Libertad Pack, which includes the “Libertad Outfit” to be used on Chorizo, and the “Discos Locos” weaponized disk launcher in-game. For those that purchase the game on a current-gen console, you will be able to get a next-gen upgrade of the game for free.
