Call of Duty returns to the Esports World Cup with Black Ops 6

It was amazing watching Faze claim the Call of Duty crown in Riyahd, and we’ll see teams competing again at EWC 2025. Call of Duty is coming back, this time with Black Ops 6. This is the first game announcement for EWC, and it was confirmed in the CDL seasonal announcement. Nothing is known yet for Call of Duty: Warzone, but it’s a safe bet to return. It should be crazy, check out the details below.

One of the most popular video game franchises on the planet – Call of Duty®️ – is coming back for the 2025 edition of the Esports World Cup! The legendary franchise will return with its latest installment, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which has taken the world by storm since its launch last month.

2024 Recap: Call of Duty at the EWC 

Call of Duty®️: Modern Warfare®️ III was the featured game from the storied franchise and was played during Week 7 of the 2024 Esports World Cup. Atlanta FaZe took home the trophy and the $600,000 first-place prize from the $1,800,000 total prize pool.

Atlanta FaZe triumphed in the first-ever Modern Warfare 3 tournament at the 2024 Esports World Cup, defeating 100 Thieves in the Grand Finals on August 19, 2024. The four-man team, composed of aBeZy, Cellium, Drazah, and Simp, bested 15 top squads over the four-day competition. A clean Group Stage was followed by a superb Playoff run, taking down Boston Breach 3-0, OpTic Texas 3-1, and 100 Thieves 4-2 to lift the trophy.

Cellium claimed the tournament MVP and an additional $50,000, top fragging in the Grand Finals with a 1.46 K/D, alongside most of the Playoff bracket.
