Call of Duty League reveals the 2024 season — Format, changes, and everything else

It’s felt like forever, and it kind of has been. The 2023 Call of Duty League season ended back in July, and with Modern Warfare III nearly here, it’s time we see what’s in store for 2024. In fact, there’s a lot, with changes in the format and new cities joining in on LAN. All of the intel is right here, straight for the CDL news center. Get ready, it all begins in December!

Buckle up, CDL fans.

There’s just eight days until Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® III drops and five weeks away until the 2023 Call of Duty League® season kicks off with Opening Weekend on Friday, Dec. 8.

In June, the New York Subliners were crowned the 2023 Call of Duty League Champions at a sold-out Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas and it is time to begin a new chapter in the Call of Duty League.

It has been a busy offseason for teams as we march toward the 2024 season–the newly minted Carolina Royal Ravens and Miami Heretics teams were announced, and all teams have been keeping busy with Rostermania! The 2024 season is gearing up to be epic, so let’s get into the details…

Major I Hosted By The Boston Breach

The kickoff of major tournaments for the 2024 circuit is primed for excitement as new teams, rosters and storylines have dominated this offseason.

“We are thrilled to kick off the 2024 Call of Duty League season by welcoming players, fans and partners back to Boston for Major I. Our team entered last year with the goal of putting Boston on the map as an esports hub and the CDL’s amazing community did not let us down. We look forward to shattering our attendance record again in 2024, creating an experience for the fans only Boston can offer. This year we are raising the bar and continuing our effort to establish Boston as a premier destination for Esports. See you at the MGM Music Hall for Major I.” – Murph Jr Vandervelde (President & Co-Founder of Oxygen Esports)

Major II Hosted By The Miami Heretics

The Miami Heretics are jumping right in the deep end and hosting a major tournament in South Florida during their inaugural season. The excitement surrounding a Heretics led major will be spicy.

“We are extremely excited to host the Major 2 in Miami. The US fans are very important for us, so having the chance to operate a Major in our first season as Miami Heretics is something we could not say no to. We cannot wait to bring all the community together in such a special event. – Arnau Vidal (Founder of Heretics)

Major III Hosted By The Toronto Ultra

After two successful majors hosted in previous seasons, you had to know we are headed back to the Six. The 2023 runner-ups will be ready to show out for their hometown as they welcome the rest of the CDL to their home turf. The playoff scenarios will be heating up so all eyes will be on this tournament.

“Our Call of Duty League Majors have become a must-attend event. Toronto is the preferred destination for players, creators and fans, and we can’t wait to run it back in 2024. We pride ourselves on putting on a great show that prioritizes fan experience above all else, and this year will be no different.” – Matt McGlynn (Marketing VO of OAM)

Major IV Hosted By The Carolina Royal Ravens

A new home for the Royal Ravens lands in Charlotte, North Carolina and they want to show this city of Charlotte a good time. The excitement around this tournament will be electric with the potential of final playoff spots on the line. Who is headed to Championship Weekend? Who is headed home?

“We are very excited to bring a Call of Duty League Major back to the Carolinas! This time, we’re bringing Call of Duty to the Queen City of Charlotte, North Carolina. Our fans will get to be a part of history as we join the other pro sports teams of the Hornets, Panthers, Knights, Checkers and Charlotte FC as part of the community.” – Amish Shah (Chief Investment and Strategy Officer of Infinite Reality)

2024 Qualifying Weeks

This season, there will be four weeks of Qualifiers for Majors I & IV, and five weeks of Qualifiers for Major II & III. During the qualifiers each team will play seven games. Those qualifying weeks will determine the seeding for the LAN matches at team-hosted major tournaments.

CDL Points

Due to the shift to seven games per qualifier and four majors, LAN CDL Points will be increased to ensure the importance of performance at each Major. For a full breakdown on how points are earned visit the standings page.
