A return to form – Dead Space remake in the works at EA

EA’s live event, EA Play Live ended with a surprise look at the Dead Space reboot that returns to the dark, gripping setting of the Ishimura in deep space.

Judging from the music, imagery and sound design on display, this game looks to capture the feeling of the first while building on it with the technology afforded to developers now. For many, this is an exciting proposition, as Dead Space is widely regarded as an excellent survival horror game.

The remake is handled by Motive, and it will use the Frostbite Engine. The team is building the game from the ground up, so it will feature completely rebuilt assets and all new technology while respecting the original. From this trailer alone, it looks like Dead Space is in good hands.

Dead Space is developed exclusively for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, meaning last-gen consoles will be left out when this remake hits shelves. However, Xbox One users may be in luck due to the console’s capability to stream Series X|S games through Xbox Cloud Gaming.
