The DXRacer Drifting Series Final Fantasy Rebirth gaming chair is slick and comfortable.
It comes with two pillows, one for behind your head and one that supports your lower back. The upper pillow is adjustable. You can move it down or up to get more comfortable. The upper pillow is extremely stiff and uncomfortable, while the lower pillow is comfortable and provides adequate support.
Unfortunately, my experience with the Final Fantasy Rebirth gaming chair was less than perfect. This chair costs $499.99 and because of the plethora of issues I ran into with this chair, I can’t recommend it for the price.
Unboxing and Assembly
I enjoyed unboxing the Final Fantasy gaming chair because it came well-packaged with no damage to any of the pieces. The instruction sheet was right on the top along with the rest of the information about the chair. The box contained all the pieces stored properly and nothing was loose.
I liked how easy it was to get everything out of the box and set up. There was no hassle, no loose pieces, and no fuss. The chair comes with an instruction pamphlet that details the ins and outs of the product in slightly more detail. You also get detailed cleaning instructions. Finally, the assembly instructions are on a thin piece of cardboard, making them easy to read.
One thing of note is that most of the chair came pre-assembled: This is not a huge deal but it caused some minor confusion during the assembly process. We spent a few minutes looking for the screws, only to find that they were already in the chair. This meant that we had to unscrew them from the chair and re-screw them in to put everything together.
Look and Features
The Final Fantasy Rebirth gaming chair is black and white and looks gorgeous. There are parts of the chair that are done in red. The red portions make the lettering pop on the back. I love the way the colors are split. The pillows follow the black and white color scheme: everything about the look of this chair is cohesive.
The Drifting Series of chairs features a winged seat cushion that I am seriously in love with. I’m small enough to sit in this chair with my legs crossed, and the extra support feels amazing. Sitting normally is still comfortable.
As I said at the beginning of the article, the Final Fantasy Rebirth gaming chair comes with two pillows. The headrest is made with cooling gel foam. However; it is extremely stiff and becomes uncomfortable after about 30 minutes of using it. It did feel like the cooling gel foam was working but I eventually had to remove the pillow. The curved lumbar pillow is amazing. It offers my back adequate support and is comfortable. It fits the form of the chair nicely. You’ll forget it’s there after 30 or so minutes of use.
The armrests have an adjustable height, something that I love. They can also be moved forward and backward, depending on how you want to sit. Unfortunately, the armrests for my chair are always in motion. If I go to get up I accidentally push them forward. The armrests are far too easy to move and can create an uncomfortable experience. If you’re like me and move around a lot in your chair, the sound they make will become irritating after they move a couple of times. They also move side to side at the slightest touch. While I do love that you can move the armrests forward and backward and side to side, I wish there was a way to lock them in place.
The back of the chair has various degrees of movement. You can recline up to 135 degrees: I have fallen asleep like this and found the chair to be comfortable to take a nap in. There is supposed to be a rocking mode, however, we were not able to get it to work. In addition, the instruction manual said that you can adjust the tension requirement for the chair to lean back. We tried multiple times and the tension never adjusted: This was a disappointment because the chair will sometimes take a moment to lock into the degree that you moved the back of the chair. Meaning, that if you wanted to go back 95 degrees, it’s easy to over-tilt the chair.
Final Thoughts
While the DXRACER Drifting Series Final Fantasy gaming chair can be comfortable after some adjustments, I found the back of the chair to be incredibly stiff. Without reclining the chair back, it makes sitting upright uncomfortable. Reclining the chair back slightly makes the back of the chair feel much better, and reclining it as far back as possible will make it comfortable enough to sleep in.
The winged seat cushion is very comfortable to sit in, and I love how the back of the seat curves. The chair is cohesive in its design, and the black and white color with red trim makes the chair pop uniquely. The colors are not too loud, and the chair doesn’t visually stand out too much.
Without being able to lock the armrests in place they quickly became annoying, which seems like an odd purposeful choice. While I like that you can move them forward and backward and side to side, I found that the feature became tiresome after having to make constant adjustments.
The headrest is stiff and quickly becomes uncomfortable. You can move it lower or higher depending on your preference. Regardless, the headrest is best used when you remove it from the chair.
The rocking function does not work with my chair, I was told that the rocking motion was supposed to be small. The chair doesn’t rock at all. After multiple attempts, there is no way to pull out the right lever to enable the rocking function: This, combined with the other issues, is the biggest reason I can’t recommend this chair for $499.

The DXRACER Drifting Series Final Fantasy gaming chair is a somewhat comfortable gaming chair with a couple of glaring issues. Although this chair is gorgeous you can find better for $499.
