Not surprising for any game that had post-launch, paid DLC; the GOTY edition has been announced and is coming 11/25.
122  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Do you want a Resident Evil 7? on: October 13, 2015, 04:39:01 PM
Is Revelations 2 considered much better than Revelations? Cause I hated  Revelations, at least on the 3DS and it's horrid controls.
123  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC] Wasteland 2 on: October 13, 2015, 04:37:14 PM
I might check it out, I was intrigued by the game but I heard that it was janky and decided to pass. If the Director's Cut smooths those issues out I'd be happy to give it another shot.
124  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: It's 10 AM on October 13, 2015. What's Your GOTY so far? on: October 13, 2015, 04:35:46 PM
Helldivers for me. Funnest multiplayer sessions I've had in years.
125  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Battlefront 3 finally announced! on: October 12, 2015, 08:32:35 PM
I finally got around to playing (console version). It looks and feels much better than I recall from E3, though it's hard to comment at this point on how good it is in terms of level design, content, and skill scale. I'm cautiously excited for the final release.

The latest Halo 5 trailer is fan-friggin-tastic! The Muse song in the second half is a great fit.
128  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Are any of you specifically playing horror games since its October? on: October 12, 2015, 07:28:53 PM
Every Halloween since Costume Quest released, I promised myself I would play it on Halloween weekend. I still haven't.

Thanks for starting this thread, it serves as a good reminder. With SOMA and Until Dawn recently released there's no shortage of great games to play. I've been thinking of giving The Evil Within another shot as well...
129  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC, PS4, XB1]Fallout 4 on: October 12, 2015, 07:27:11 PM
So, I watched Snowpiercer last night and oddly enough the post-apocalyptic setting of the movie revved my anticipation for Fallout 4 into second gear. I'm really looking forward to exploring the wastelands for the first time. I never put more than a handful of hours into the previous games.
130  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Rise of Tomb Raider on: October 09, 2015, 04:55:58 PM
Here's everything:

- Endurance Mode -- "Survive the extreme conditions of Endurance Mode."
- Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch -- "Explore a new tomb that houses an ancient terror."
- Cold Darkness Awakened -- "Combat waves of infected predators."
- In-game content -- "A steady stream of outfits, weapons, and Expedition Cards" that will be available at launch and continuing for more than four months."

The DLC doesn't seem to add story content, interestingly enough. Endurance mode and Cold Darkness seem like relics from the MP mode that was cut, repurposed for DLC.

This day and age, we don't have to gamble and buy. We have youtube streamers galore that will show day 1 gameplay footage, some even before. We'll know if it's a trainwreck like RE6.

Right, but even if I don't end up playing a mediocre game in the series, like RE6, it still dampens my enthusiasm for the series. When I think of Resident Evil now it's a mix of nostalgia for the good games of the past and regret for the poor state of the current games.

I'd rather RE7 not be made if they can't come up with a coherent vision and deliver on it.
132  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC, PS4, XB1]Fallout 4 on: October 09, 2015, 04:39:01 PM
With a touch of overclocking you can put your CPU above the recommended spec, if it happens to be a slightly lower model than the one listed. I have an i7-3770k which is 3.5Ghz stock, but I run it overclocked at 4.2Ghz which puts it well above the recommended speeds.

134  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Do you want a Resident Evil 7? on: October 07, 2015, 05:20:33 PM
Yesterday a producer at Capcom hinted that Resident Evil 7 is in the pipeline, telling us to "stay tuned" on it. Before Resident Evil 5 the idea of a new core RE game would have made me excited, but I didn't like RE 5 a whole lot and I skipped RE 6 entirely in hopes of at least preserving my respect for the series. So the question is, do you even want Resident Evil 7 to happen? Horror games have changed gears lately, with games like Until Dawn and SOMA changing up the formula considerably, focusing on the psychological aspect of horror vs. the physical.

Is it better to leave the Resident Evil series alone at this point, conceding that Capcom is no longer capable of delivering a horror game in the modern age, or do you want to see them give it another shot?

The Intelligence video. Only Agility and Luck are left!

The season pass has been detailed. There's a new tomb, a multiplayer mode, and more.
137  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / No Man's Sky - all procedurally generated everything! on: October 07, 2015, 04:58:09 PM
No Man's Sky has gotten a ridiculous amount of attention for an indie title. One of the creators was recently on an episode of The Late Show discussing the game with Colbert and on the front page we've got a cool new video showing off some of the unique properties of various procedurally generated planets.

In video games? Yes  icon_cool

147  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: New WoW Expansion revealed @ Gamescom on: October 06, 2015, 01:11:35 AM
WoW is sitting at 5.6m monthly subscribers as last reported by Blizzard. There's still a huge interest in WoW, the Draenor leveling content is awesome and subscriber numbers went beyond 10m. The drop-off is due to various reasons but ultimately people just don't enjoy the endgame for this expansion.

I was hoping for some major engine renovations in Legion and was disappointed that it's not happening this year. But, I'm confident that it will happen and essentially be WoW 2, just without the number attached to it.
148  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Rise of Tomb Raider on: October 05, 2015, 09:40:33 PM
No surprise, we can expect a $30 season pass which is basically industry standard now. It may add single and multiplayer content.

Yeah had a great time. Bummed that I'm away for a bit for work, but will definitely play with you guys again when I get back in a few weeks.

Poor Covenant had to deal with my utter inability to jump with any sort of accuracy.

There's a group/race called Covenant in Destiny? Odd considering that's a major race in the Halo series (obviously a Bungie thing).

I don't recall Bioshock Infinite's pre-order campaign being anything like the Augment Your Pre-order campaign, with unlock tiers, etc.

I was never really sure why people were so up in arms about that preorder campaign when several similar ones have been done on Steam before.

Maybe this was the highest profile game to have a pre-order campaign like it?

PS+ looks more like a PC indie bundle every month.  All of those game except Kung Fu Rabbit (which was on sale on PSN in the last month or so for around $2) have been in PC indie bundles.  That doesn't make them bad games, but I'd imagine Sony isn't paying a whole lot to get these on PS+.

I actually spoke to a guy from NPD who says that Sony is gearing up to start offering bigger games. We'll see when that starts to come into fruition.

Pretty good article.  Not a ton of new stuff that I didn't know at this point, but it's nice to see somebody take on that topic.

As weird as it is, I also think a lot of their turn around in attitude and output in recent times can be tied to Jeff meeting his significant other.  He drives a lot of what that site is, and there was a point where his constant negativity was really dragging it down (especially without Ryan to buoy it).  That has really changed in the last year or so, even without the new guys.

You're right, I think that factors into it but I also think Dan has some influence on it. He's like Jeff's polar opposite; as negative as Jeff can be, Dan can be just as positive.
