How to figure out what type of RAM?
«

I have a cheap secondary PC that I had someone build 2 years ago. I need to increase the RAM on it. I have no idea what type of RAM it uses. Is my only choice to open the case and look at the stick(s)? Will there be a sticker on the RAM stick that will tell me what I need to purchase more?
I know some PCs require you to use two sticks of the exact same memory size. How do I determine if that is the case for my PC?
Thanks

You can look at the stick and try to identify the ram chips type, etc...but I think you might be able to see what type under your BIOS. (edit: I'm assuming you are looking for speed type - PC2100, PC2700, etc.)

CPU-Z
will tell you what kind of memory you are currently running. On mine it shows the brand, speed, size, and some other stuff.
