Well, not constantly, exactly - but pretty often. If GT is sitting on my taskbar for too long, then I have to log in. I did the old recommendations, to no avail. Nothing in Profile that I can find to set a time limit... There is absolutely no hurry on this BTW - so take your time - after all, it's the holidays, Black Friday, etc. I just have to mention this stuff when I remember it, or it never happens - as you know! Thanks! This place and you folks are still The Best!  EDIT TO ADD - LOOKS LIKE IT MIGHT BE OVER, YIPPEE! I WAS LOGGED IN ALL DAY YESTERDAY, WITH SOME TWO-HOUR IDLE TIMES MIXED IN. TRYING AGAIN TODAY... *fingers crossed* No, not over, rats! Let me ask this - is there a time limit for leaving GT idle on the task bar? I'm talking hours, not days, lol... Also, if my wireless signal drops, for a few seconds - would that be enough to cause the problem?

Bump - still having to log in 5 times more often than usual... any ideas? I did the old clearing of cookies, cache, etc., checked profile options, blah, blah. :?

I believe it's an IE6 thing. (under XP I've had it happen at work and at home) ... this came after playing around with security settings. I reinstalled my OS at home and now I don't have to log in more than once. I'd try resetting the security zones, clear the cache and delete all offline content including cookies (esp. any gamingtrend.com cookies). You can also check the www.microsoft.com/support knowledgebase. |

by IE6 - do you mean Explorer? If u do, I'm on Firefox... I'll try that stuff anyway, though, just in case! thanks! Edit to add: just realized, I've done half of that already - cleared the cookies, cache, everything I could clear except for a few saved passwords. |

Giving this a bump, cz the problem still exists. I paid more attention to when other websites' links would take over the GT page, redid all the cookies, cache, etc - and I still have to log in more often. Is there a time limit that you can stay on the site for - say I get busy with email or whatever, and GT is sitting on the taskbar minimized (that's what happened today)... will it "time out?" - and if so, how long will it take? Also, could a screen saver interfere with it in some way (it never used to). And, no - I don't like checking the box to log in automatically every time. If I don't use my user names and passwords, I'd forget them, so I rarely use those features. But I didn't before either - and this logging in problem has only been since we've become GT... :? I'm using Firefox, btw - as I was on CG... Any more ideas? Answers? Thanks! |

And I can be verrry patient... especially for something cool - er, hot - big irons in the fire, can't wait! :shock: I doubt it's the firewall issue, because I haven't changed anything on my laptop, but I'll have my expert check on that. My level of expertise stops fairly quickly past the "on" button. :lol: |

LOL, thanks, Cal, that's so nice! But, trust me when I say that a little extra logging in is not what's been keeping me somewhat quiet of late. I've had a crummy virus/ cold thingy and have mostly been sleeping away the time, and playing Animal Crossing DS, flipping TV channels, etc. I check in every day, I'm just not posting as much as usual.  I'll be right as rain (whatever that means) soon, I'm sure, and you'll see my absurdly long posts again! :lol: PS, love the new avatar! |
