RPGamer has some details and a magazine scan here for the new strategy RPG set in the Suikoden universe (Suikoden 4's time period apparently).  This type of game seems like a natural offshoot for the series, and the fact that Konami has already trademarked the name "Suikoden Tactics" in the US means it's most likely going to be released here.

Not a fan of Suikoden. But I'm always on the lookout for a new SRPG biggrin

I like the screen shots, but I have never played a Suikoden title.  Is this the first SRPG for the series?

Yes.  Prior to this there have been 4 RPG's.  At least in North America.

Not that I'm complaining but is SRPG's the new trend?

This is the first full-blown strategy RPG for the series, but they've all featured a SRPG kind of mode for their big battles (or sea battles in S4's case).  That is why this genre seems like a logical step for the series.

Especially after the absolute mediocrity that was Suikoden 4.

That one still hurts.

Yes and no.  They've been around almost as long as console gaming has been around but before this generation not very many of them were released outside of Japan.  Atlus's success at bringing the imports over here has really expanded the SRPG market in America which is motivating other companies to bring their series over here too.
