Roll Tide!!!!

Ok...  so I DID preorder back in September, but of course they are telling me that a preorder really doesn't mean anything and that I might not get it in time for Christmas (which spells trouble since this is supposed to be my Christmas present from my WIFE, and she's not going to let me have nothing to open on Christmas).

Which brings me to:

I'm going to Walmart in the hopes that I can snag one at midnight on Monday.   I know they don't do the stupid bundles, so I can have a chance at getting a $400 system and leave the games up to her.   Problem:   they are only getting 4 of the $400 systems.     frown    My chances aren't good.

So... I've asked for the first half of the day off on Tuesday so that I can try some other stores early that day.        Can we talk about what those stores plan and whether or not they are doing stupid expensive bundles or whether I can walk in and get the $400 package without strings attached?

Stores in my area:

Best Buy --  I know they aren't doing midnight, and I know they aren't doing a bundle.   Might try them first thing on Tues.

Circuit City -- Their catalog that just came in doesn't even MENTION the 360.   So I have no clue.

Media Play -- no clue

Target -- no idea

Toys R Us -- no idea

In an attempt to gauge interest for this system in my area, I found out how many preorders the Savannah, Georgia EBgames had:   Approximately 250.      There is also a Gamestop which I assume would have as many or less.         How does that stack up with other areas around the country?

Circuit City is selling bundles on their website tomorrow at 2 PM EST!
Pretty decent bundle offerings

If you're going to Walmart, you want to be there at 10 PM at the LATEST.

I would say your best chance would be Best Buy. They seem to be getting the most systems, of course they will probabily have the most people there on launch day as well, so get there early.

Here are the complete Best Buy Launch #'s. I posted this in another thread a bunch of days ago, but here it is again.

My store is getting 35 of the Premium and 12 Cores.

Go here to find your store #:

Bless you Hetz.   And they are not doing a midnight release, so I should get there before they open on Tuesday.   Wonder how early?

Oh and most Toys R Us stores are doing a bundle. They have 8 preorders per store and all are one of 2 bundles. You can see if they have any left.

Target - First Come, First Served

Media Play - Had no idea if they would even have any on the 22nd...but are doing first come, first served.

Ok so Toys R Us is probably out.

My plan is taking shape:    Walmart at 10pm the night before.   If no dice, then I'll be at Best Buy at 8:00 or so in the morning of the 22nd to stand in line.   If no dice there, it's a mad scramble to Target.

If no dice there...  I have to pray to the gods that have blessed Hetz that my Ebgames preorder will come through before Christmas.

Sounds like a pretty good plan!

May the gaming gods be with you....  smile

The Xbox 360 comes out Monday night at Midnight, or Tuesday morning at 12:01AM. Take your pick.

You might want to try Sam's Club or CostCo if you have memberships to either one of those.

I'm dropping out of the 360 scramble - I decided to take those two days off to go to Disneyland with my family, so I'll be waiting for the second shipment to come in to my Gamestop.

I still say Toys-R-Us is you best bet - Best Buy has the most systems, but also seems to attract the most attention.  For some reason hardly anyone ever goes to Toys-R-Us for launches, and they always have a bunch in stock.

Dimmona, TRU is NOT an option this time. TRU started accepting pre-orders for bundles a few weeks ago. They don't have any unreserved systems to sell.

Yep, TRU is pretty much sold out by now.  Anyone that goes there to get a system is going to be out of luck at this point.
