Uncharted Series “Good Candidate” for Remastering

Sony believes that the Uncharted series is a “good candidate” for a PlayStation 4 remake in the same vein as the upcoming The Last of Us: Remastered.

Speaking with Eurogamer, Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida described the first three Uncharted games as ones people might have missed had they not had a PlayStation 3 last generation. Given the amount of PlayStation 4 owners who didn’t own Sony’s last system, Yoshida believes that the Uncharted series makes sense for a re-release on Sony’s latest home console.

“Almost 50 per cent of people who have purchased a PS4 didn’t own a PS3, and that’s lots of people that missed exclusive PS3 titles like The Last of Us, so it’s a great way to welcome those people back to PlayStation, saying this is what you missed.”

“There are requests from some consumers for games that were released later in the generation, like Uncharted, which people might have missed,” says Yoshida. “That would be a good candidate. We don’t want to flood the market with remade games either.”

Recently, Sony gave Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End a proper reveal at its E3 press conference last month. A remastering of the first three games seems like a logical decision with a fourth game on the way sometime next year. Or perhaps Sony will look to streaming service PlayStation Now to give new PS4 owners a chance to catch up.
