October 22, 2024, IRVINE, CA – Diablo announced today the launch of Vases of Hatred, an immersive campaign that lets fans send a vessel of corrupted flowers to their nemesis or frenemies at no cost. The diabolically fun campaign celebrates the release of Vessel of Hatred, the critically acclaimed first expansion of Diablo IV which debuted on October 8. In collaboration with creative agency Mojo Supermarket, the two-part experience brings to life the corruption of Mephisto – the game’s villain – whose evil essence infects all that it touches: from the jungles of Nahantu, to the flower shops of Los Angeles and New York.
Vases of Hatred: Loathing at Your Doorstep
The campaign’s first component, Vases of Hatred, allows fans to send a beautifully dangerous bouquet to a woeful recipient and receive a mount bundle in-game reward. These florals—carefully crafted by the renowned, boundary-pushing celebrity florist Dead Flowers, are anything but ordinary.
The vase is designed with death and decay etched into its surface, taking inspiration from the towering entry gates of Nahantu, where the Vessel of Hatred expansion is set. The bouquet consists of a collection of carnivorous flowers and trypophobia-inducing buds, with stems and leaves singed by the fires of hell. The arrangement is a haunting mixture of charred beauty and latent danger, a fitting tribute to the darker realms of the Diablo universe.**
Complementary, limited quantities are available across New York City and Los Angeles beginning today, October 22, while supplies last. Players outside of these cities will be able to send their frenemies a digital card and bouquet while also receiving the in-game reward.
“The Lord of Hatred’s corruption is boundless and allowing it to manifest in the real world through beautiful floral arrangements is a gratifying way to bring Vessel of Hatred to life while embodying the spirit of the Diablo universe,” said Daniela Rodriguez, Senior Director of Brand Marketing for Diablo. “With Vases of Hatred, we are giving players a unique opportunity to share a playfully dark message with their cherished rivals or favorite foes while reminding them just how far-reaching Mephisto’s power has become.”
Acolyte of Hatred: A Dark Force in New York City
In addition to the Vases of Hatred, New Yorkers today may cross paths with the Acolyte of Hatred, a demon-like entity straight from the depths of Sanctuary, slowly hauling a flower cart through the city. The Acolyte’s sole mission is to hand out singular sinister flowers to unsuspecting passersby.
Mojo Supermarket Group Creative Director Gianmaria Schonlieb states, “The new Diablo IV expansion puts the malevolence of Mephsto on full display, and we needed a concept that would shake the gaming world and bring that wickedness to life. Enter Vases Of Hatred: the first-ever bouquet made out of evil, filled with real toxic flowers, and designed for the rivals you truly love to chafe. Traditionally, gifting flowers is a gesture of affection, but when the sinister world of Diablo takes over, it transforms into something more provocative.”
This haunting activation will bring the game’s atmosphere into the streets of New York, turning an ordinary day into a brush with the dark side. It reflects the immersive storytelling elements at the core of Diablo IV, where players face demons in the fight for survival against hatred itself.
